I want to apologize to the whole thread for relating my own climate details. I will stick to coffee only
Love to hear about warm when it's cold. But can we come and visit??,That is, if we ship our own water, which would be easier than if you shipped the warmth to us.

I am so sorry about the snow out there!

Here tomorrow is Almond Festival in the Capay Valley!

Lots of fragrant blossoms.
Bring on the Spring!

Been so busy miss the morning conversations with everyone!

Time for egg salad and more coffee!

Almost all of my snow is gone, my pond is still iced over... but I think I can see all of my lawn.

My first bird of spring showed up last Saturday.

I think the broody needs to be kicked off of the nest at least once a day to make sure she is eating enough.

Yeah. I've been kicking her off. Think she is about to go into a broody buster.

take her off the nest every day so she can poop and eat and drink and dustbathe.... you can also put food and water in front of her. ON the Broody hatch along there are some who have had broodies constantly through a couple of hatches... by making sure they eat. I was on that list for a very long time. If shes going to be your broody I would build her a broody partition or spot where you can exclude the other hens and have her dedicated food and water and dustbath spot. That way all you have to do is make sure she gets off the nest to tend herself. Some broodies automatically do it.... Some you have to watch over.

Yeah, I think that is why I might try to break her for now. I don't have much time to watch her and we are planning a vacation during spring break. I think I will try to break her. If it doesn't work, I will at least have delayed her enough to fit my schedule. (hopefully).

They're calling for 100% chance of snow here. I'm in shock. I've never heard of such a confident forcast. I will be thrilled if it snows! It hardly ever snows around my birthday! What a great gift! Closing on the farm 9 my birthday. Chicks for my birthday and snow! I will be one spoiled lady!

This past week has been eh.

Car wreck, doctor's visit:)( ) then the news of an emu being tortured, killed, and er....other things.

This week being froze over and no classes! Such contrasting weeks! And we got a new coffee maker, yay!

Does anyone remember when girls used to get a class ring from a boy and would put some kind of yarn on it and make it look like a ring in a nest. Maybe that was a Midwest thing. They would buy yarn that you could fuzz it up and wrap around the stone. Your post about alpaca sweaters made me think of that. Oh my gosh, how long ago that was!
