Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

There has not been enough coffee for me here today to keep me warm! It has been way to cold for us here in Alabama. Even my birds are hollering at me!

I am in need of a LOT of hot, strong, rich coffee. One very long lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnng day. Up early to -25 F, again

. Hubby finally gets puppy to go outside to do her business around 8 a.m. Comes carrying her into the house announcing that her back end REALLY needs to be cleaned up. I take her into the bathroom and prepare to got to work. Take one look and realize that is not just rather loose fecal matter but a lot of dark red blood!

Warm water, pup shampoo, clip fur, now I can see my poor little pup has REALLY blown out an anal gland right thru the side of her bum. Poor thing!!! On the phone to the vet, yelling to the other half to go let the chickens into the greenhouse and get the car warmed up. "Squeeze you in as an emergency" and we are on our way to town. Killing time while they sedate her and clean up the mess by going to the bank and transferring money from savings to the checkbook. Back to the vet and told to go have lunch because the pup liked REALLY liked the drugs and is still snoozing in her cage. We return from lunch, wait a while longer, finally get delivered a still rather loopy pup and head home with a sleepy pup, a pocket full of drugs and a checkbook a couple hundred dollars lighter. Good thing she is so cute

To make up for the last one!

I agree... a bit odd....

of course, there was that time that I spent a day sitting on chocolate

So that year without an Easter Bunny was Alaskan's fault.

I agree... but I think that Lent, though it can have the "giving stuff up" for lent part ...

I think Lent is supposed to be a time when we specifically try to be more Christian, and closer to God.

Which translates to more praying, more charitable works, more religious reading, and more fasting.

but yeah... we are all at a different spot on our journey.

Yup.

I've put a little broody juju on Alaskan's flock. Everything including Alaskan will soon go broody. Vengeance shall be mine.

@Alaskan going broody!!!!!

I do that with my silkies and when they begin to brood I switch eggs so they will raise chickens that I want or need. Last summer they each raised one brood of silkies and I have one pullet from last summer, the others are males

I want her to raise her eggs; she's my only green egg layer. Almost all the pullets I have coming up right now (chicks, 2-3 weeks old) will lay brown eggs, some will lay white. That's it.

I just want colorful eggs. Blue, green, egg-cetra, egg-cetra, egg-cetra.

For those of us who weren't here for that - explain? Please, I am very curious now.

Alaskan was eating chocolate in the living room while "spouse" wasn't looking and then found some under him and then he couldn't clean it up behind her back for hours. It's still so funny.
