Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

my coffee maker died
hit.gif

I put coffee grounds in my coffee cup, and let it sit for 10 minutes, then poured it through a sieve (I tried drinking it without filtering it... and that was super gritty)

not horrid.... but it reminded me a bit of an old shoe

Haha.. and I thought that was my secret! Once my sister was baby sitting and she asked me why there were mini chocolate bars hidden in by fake ivy plant... I asked her why she was looking in my ivy plant.. She "said" my children told her that it was my favorite plant, and that I was always looking at it, so she investigated... hahahaha

My mom used to hide spearmint leaf gummys in her mixing bowls when I was a kid.

I can't hide stuff in my mixing bowls, my girls do the baking and cooking.

The ivy plant is a great hiding place. I'm going to have to investigate my house for good hiding places.

We have the cabinet above the fridge which worked well when the kids were small. Now they are teenager and know better than to mess around in the parent's stash!

My stepdaughter has two VERY active children, ages 3 and 5. She also has a walk-in pantry that she escapes to regularly with the chocolate up on the high shelf. It's the Mom Cave....

I need to start a list of features I want in the next house I live in:
Fake ivy plant
Walk-in Pantry
Mom Cave (just in case the walk-in pantry doesn't work out)

To answer a question Easter is April 5th this year.

I learned that lent was a time for self reflection to take a serious look at yourself and your habits to see what keeps your heart from completely committing to God. The things that keep you bothered like addiction and sin are the things you give up so you can spend time with God without those things and gain a closer relationship.

I think all relationships even Marriage could use a Lent. IMHO

Sorry to hear about your puppy I too have had a looong day as I was informed that my mother is dying and has a few days max. without a belief and trust in God I don't know how people handle these kinds of situations.

Thank you.

Yup, that's what I was taught too.

I agree.

I don't either. I'm sorry about your mother. It's good she has an opportunity to say good-bye.

Apparently, the mods don't like when ppl talk religion (probably not politics either). Feel free to PM me if you want to talk more. =)

Just sharing my story and coffee.

My DS said he was up until 3:30 this morning. He slept in the van though, so "it's not that big a deal" (his words not mine).
I guess he'll sleep well tonight. lol

It's @Alaskan 's fault!

Good morning to you too. =)

Now...I am drinking COKE
roll.png

It has caffeine. =)

Working on my second cup of coffee it is still 32* outside. I'm waiting till it warms up some to go out. Daffodils are blooming so is my pear tree so spring is close! :)
My Iris is blooming here

The Dogwoods are blooming. My one little Red Bud tree is blooming too. DH cut one down this winter. I was not happy about that, but there's another one, thankfully.

they were kind of keeping me up. My Grandma has a house keeper that comes two times a month... Been using her for about ten years now. Besides I am not able to keep house to grandmas Standards. So Thursdays are OMG Clean up days before the house keeper comes.
So I was doing last minute things.

Then Yesterday was moms day before that. Mom had Cataract surgeries one around Chirstmas and one just last month. Yesterday she went in to have her eye glasss prescription filled. With mom its never "Just One thing" to do. even though that was all that was planned. So I was expecting a half day of Oh I have to get this I have to get that... I am hungry .... and on ... but when she comes out of the office. The car wont start.

I swear I only listened to the radio for about ten minutes. But it wont start at all. And when Tripple A comes out they say the battery is charged but has gone bad. So they sold me a car battery. I was ready to pay for it because I felt it was my fault... But mom said no she would pay for it and grandma would pay her back.

So after that mom says.... "Im Hungry." So I take her to the Omlette Factory. Weve known the people there since the 70s. Greek family so they treat all their customers like they are part of the family.

After lunch I called Grandma when I left her that morning it was nine thirty. And my son wasnt up yet. But I had told him I was leaving early... "***uming" that he would fix her lunch before he left for school. Well that would be an UM NOPE. By now it was 2:00. Grandmas who are 98 have to have their meals on time... And this grandma has been regumentated for very much longer than that. and she was saying "Oh no dont worry about me I can fix myself something"

I said no we will bring you something.

So we went and grabbed an in and out Burger... Probably her favorite lunch because shes asked for it for a good five years now.... Aside from a sandwich of some sort. Brought it home and since I had been in the car since 9:30 am with the exception of Lunch I needed to do some Bathroom time. And by now My legs were swollen up from sitting. So Mom takes grandma her lunch by now its 2:00.

I tell them I need to lay down for a short nap before I take mom home. What I do is lay down get my legs up and watch a dvd. I cant lay on the couch because i cant get back up and there is no chair except my office chair that fits me... So I go to bed set the timer and conk out.

WHen the timer goes off an hour later Grandma is writing mom a check... I am walking through and grandma says ... "Why didnt you use the credit card..." I just said I didnt remember to and that I WAS going to pay cash but mom sayd shed pay for it.

I go in the other room just to open email and my son was sitting there doing homework. I asked him why he didnt fix grandma lunch before he left for school... flat answer "I didnt know I was supposed to..." After he just two days ago told me he was totally capable of caring for her if I wanted to do a two day weekend.

Sigh it probably was my fault by not being specific when i said I needed to leave early...

So my email forgotten Mom has her money so the first thing... Go to the bank. off we go. Go to the Grocery store.... to get her magazines.... and her Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls shes been having for breakfast now for four years or so... The off to Wallgreens to get that thing she swears she can only get there... and I know Walmart has em cheaper but I have given up trying to convince her of that....

Sigh Shes going to be 81 on Monday and if her glasses are good shes going to start driving for her little odd errands.... HOPEFULLY....
fl.gif

Her parting shot yesterday on the way home was "Dean is such a thoughtful person" I just said "yeah I wonder where he got that from"
th.gif
I who didnt get a card or a present from him for my birthday.... and who have to remind him to AT LEAST get the Grandmas a Birthday Card for their birthdays... He does do all his own laundry as well as grandmas... been doing that since he was fifteen. That IS a really big help., So hes thoughtful in the important ways.

I Have to say this though hes been going through a lot of stuff this year.

So here I sit with just a few things left for pre-house keeper cleanup left to do.

edited to add the question I was supposed to answer in the first place... I was up cleaning for today.... and up thinking about mom and her on coming birthday...
deb

That's quite a day!!!!!
Your Dean sounds like my DH. I get nothing for Valentine's, Anniversary, B-day, whatever....but he does the laundry (w/ DD's help) and gets me little things through the year. =)

Oh, my! Sounds like it's time to get a French press. Or an espresso machine. Or just a new drip coffee maker. At any rate,

Her husband passed april 15 last year of cancer. and it has been even harder on her without him to help her keep fighting.
But I would rather say good bye than to hope for her to live the way she has been recently.

so Again Thank You for the Prayers of comfort and support (the squeeky wheel gets the grease and all

Oh Alaskan
Do you not keep a back up coffee maker?
I picked up a back up the first time mine broke just got a 10.00 guy from dollar store and no more problems.
But without the back up I guess I could bring in the one I have for the greenhouse.
