Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I see that you have neighbors and a grocery but......Do you have trash service? Is your road gravel, black top or concrete? Have you heard a whip-or-will or a loon?

Good Morning. Yes, I do have trash service provided by the county-my tax dollars at work. Blacktop. I love whip-or-wills, but I don't have any here. My parents place, the property that I grew-up on, has them.

If I had my druthers Id be living at my own home.... I have eighteen acres in an area that most places are 20. BLM land is between my neighbors house and Mexico so I am set back from the border about two miles. there are train tracks that follow the border as well as a border fence which is patrolled.

The key to groceries here is having a BIG refrigerator. LOL... and a BIG Freezer.

on my driveway facing north. My property line only goes through a few of those rocks.

A view from the OUt house towards Mexico or pretty much Due south Those pale gray hills in the distance are in Mexico about ten miles away. There is a lot of rugged country between. and a couple of towns.

My dog Rosie in the pix as well RIP.

Beautiful views. I bet that you do miss it.

Thank you. I am in the country on almost 7 acres. I put my flock list in my signature along with my family.

My brother-in-law and his wife live in San Diego. It looks beautiful in pictures but I love living in the country. I grew up in the country. When I married my husband, we lived in a city for 20 years, so it is nice to be back in the country. I still have neighbors and a grocery store.

Seven acres sounds nice!!! I live in the country too (kind of, it's rural anyway). My flock is in my siggie too (although, I only included the chickens). I like your flock! I have a BJG briefly; I'd really like to have another one. I've got some GCs; they're great layers. Mostly, I have NHs. My girls are just starting to lay. =)
I met my DH in the city and we lived there for almost ten years. We're in the country now; I like it. We were talking about me liking living in the country so much better than in the city the other day; I told him, "Yeah, what's not to love? I can go let the chickens out in my pajamas on the weekends and nobody sees me." He looked at me funny and then chuckled. I'm not sure whether he was hung up on the idea of having chickens in the city or if he'd never noticed that I go out in my p.j.s to let them out on the weekends.

Yeah, we need a second fridge and a chest freezer too, but I like going grocery shopping (it's one of the only times we get out lol), so I don't push too hard for the fridge and freezer. lol
Those are really pretty pics, Deb! At first, I though Rosie was a coyote but I'm glad she was your dog. I'm sorry for your loss, Hon. Losing a dog is really hard!!!

Do mallards need a lot of water? Are they loud?

My bf said lumber gets delivered on Wednesday for raised beds and my new duck pen with raised pond

SQUEEL!!

And he said I can get turkey chicks, adult cortunix quails, adult female ducks (I'm looking for cayuga, indian runner and khaki campbell) and duck hatching eggs. Let the chicken math expand!

IDK about ducks.

Yay!!!

Nothing tastes better in a coffee than good ol Canadian Maple Syrup (what I am drinking now)

Welcome to the

thread. =)
Also,

I haven't tried coffee w/ maple syrup yet. I've got to remember in the mornings when I'm going around the kitchen trying to think of what I want in my coffee that day. =)

Good Morning,
The rain has stopped. We have needed it. The mud level however is outrageous. Looking forward to some sunshine.

Yay for sunshine!!!

I miss the whip-or-wills and bob whites....

My baby sister said the fire ants really cut their numbers down (she is in Texas)

I live near a USDA experiment station and they experimented with some kind of flies that lay egge in the fire ants heads and kill them and we have not had any firemants for several, years. That is great but some kind of small ants have taken over and they are really aggravating.

Fire ants are awful.
Alaskan, I'm checking out your blog. I love your writing already. When I get in one of my day dreaming moods, I imagine living in Alaska or the old west. You can complain to me about the cold & snow. I can't wait to hear all about it.
