I'm thinkin' your reality might shift again if you had ever have one without the ring get loose in your gardensMy family used them all the time growing up.
I married a man who uses them all the time too.
We have never had hogs. The idea of putting them through a pigs nose never occurred to me.
I thought it was a different ring they put in a hog.

My reality just shifted.
I will never use those things again without feeling sorry for pigs.

So the metal rings hit the hot wire and BAM!My parents weren't farmers, but I grew up surrounded by agriculture. A lot of the farmers around us would turn livestock out on fields after they had been harvested (you'd be surprised how much a combine leaves behind). For pigs, they'd put a couple of strands of hotwire a few inches off the ground to keep them in. A few rings around the edge of the "rooter" was supposed to keep the big sows from digging under the wire and getting out.

Edit to add; That would never happen! unless they were rubies and emeralds...and even then she's a tom boy so I doubt she'd wear them.
