Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

I HATE irresponsible dog owners!! Ok, so, first of all, I have 5 dogs. 2 pyrenees, 1 Bernese, and two pitbull mixes. I was walking my male Pyrenees and two female pit mixes down the road, ON LEASHES. When we passed by a house, and a golden retriever came out on the road, growling. I knew this dog, and it had come and attacked our larger dogs on my property, and had lost, so I was pretty surprised that it followed us for a bit. On my way home, the dog came running towards us growling. The owner saw this, and SLOWLY started walking towards us, calling the dog. I'm sorry, but when I have three, big, angry dogs that I'm holding, you could at least try to hurry. The dog attacked my youngest mix, and I started kicking him trying to get him off. I was about ready to let my dog go because she is dog aggressive, and was going crazy not being able to. Defend herself properly. I'm still kicking away at the dog, and the owner is standing there, in front of me, calling the dog!!!! Didn't try to get it or anything! Finally the dog turned towards me, and the guy grabbed the dog. Pretty sure he was too scared to get in the midst of my very angry dogs to grab his own. Stupid coward. He literally had to drag the dog home because it layed on the ground and wouldn't get up. My two pit mixes were ready to go after it, as they're both pretty dog aggressive. Needless to say, I'm still pretty upset. I can no longer let my dogs out in the yard because both of the mixes can climb out, and I know exactly where they'll go. The sad part is that that dog has attacked all of mine at least once, and gotten beaten every time. I guess he thought he could beat up two 7 month old puppies instead.

How tall is the fence? Does the Retriever get onto your property regularly?

It's funny you have Pitts and pyrenees. My pyrs hate pitts, they won't tolerate them. Every Pyr I've owned has been prejudice of pitts. I've tried to socialize them with pitts and they just won't tolerate the breed. I commend you for having the two breeds get along! I also hate it when people don't keep their dogs in their yards. We found a stray and took her home, couldn't find her owners no matter how hard we tried. We kept her as well as we could but she was a true escape artist, I was about to have the baby so we were going to take her to a rescue because we won't own a dog that won't stay in our enormous (4 acres) and well fenced yard. The neighbors begged us to give her to them so we did. Well now she roams in everyone's yard, runs in front of cars, 4 wheelers, tractors etc and antagonizes our dogs at the fence. Well then she turned up pregnant and yesterday we go to our shed to get a tool and we hear whining. There's 8 puppies under our shed so we have to jack it up and crawl under to save them because we saw an opossum in the yard the day before. Now the neighbors want the dog and puppies but she's skin and bones and they don't have a secure run to put her in... *sigh* I'm not going to release them into an unsafe environment and besides I want to keep one of the pups and if they get them back they will probably end up dead.

The mixes were actually rescues too, we found 8, 3 week old puppies that were dumped on the side of the road, those two are the ones we kept from the litter, I guess they get along well because they really did grow up together!

Not that tall, around 4 ft. We keep them on cables sometimes too, just to make sure they won't run away, but we also let them run around a lot, and that will have to stop. Thankfully, there's a abandoned pasture not half a mile away, and I take them there to play. Yes, the retriever used to come to our property at least 3 times a week, but it's lessened ever since he got in a tussle with our pyrenees. The pyr is the only reason he didn't full on attack the two pups.

Oh! Update! So, the man that owns the retriever happens to be related to our landlord. Our landlord called, saying that the man said that our two smaller dogs ( the pups) are too aggressive, and that he "feared for his safety, and he thought he was going to be bit" he said that they were a danger, and had chased him while he ran! One, my dogs have NEVER bit anyone, two, they are NEVER off leashes! He has run by us before, but the dogs always stood right beside me, no issues. Our landlord said that both pups need to be gone by the weekend.... I'm so furious right now. His dog attacked my pups, and now we have to get rid of them because of another person's irresponsibility! Thankfully, my sister can take one, and I already have someone wanting the other, but it still breaks my heart, I've put so much work into these dogs, and raised and bottle fed them since I found them....

Oh no! Sorry about having to get rid of the pups, that's a bummer. :(

I think it is time to start looking for a new home. I doubt that this is the end of troubles to be created by this person. Once a liar, always a liar. Sorry that you have to deal with this.

Unfortunately you're right, we've already decided that we're moving the first chance we Get. It just blows me away that someone can be that malicious.

Quote: You say that you know that the pits can climb the fence - are you absolutely, totally, 100% sure about anything and everything that could have occurred at some time when they might have gone over the fence and you didn't see it? This guy may have an unreasoning fear of pit bulls, but their bites are impressive (even allowing for oriental hyperbole), and I know I wouldn't care to risk getting chewed on by one. If this guy has such a poorly trained and badly socialized Golden, my guess is he isn't really a dog person, in which case, anything less than goofy, tail-wagging tongue-lolling hail-fellow-well-met could be seen as a threat by him.

If this guy had kept his dog on his property, where it belongs, this wouldn't have happened. I'm sorry that you are losing your dogs because of him, though it sounds like you have a couple of good homes lined up for them. Kudos to you for having done so much for some dogs that some irresponsible person threw away!
