Sitting with a cup of coffee. (coffee lovers)

The neighbors across the street 'rescued' what appears to be a Chespeake/Akita cross that is evidently both dog and human aggressive. When he started coming on my property challenging me, I told the neighbor,. "The day that he bites me or any of my dogs is the day that he dies." I suggested an invisible fence and once it was installed we 'proofed' him. He still terrorizes all joggers, dog walkers, bicyclists but now it is from a safe distance. That's a good neighbor.

The mixes were actually rescues too, we found 8, 3 week old puppies that were dumped on the side of the road, those two are the ones we kept from the litter, I guess they get along well because they really did grow up together!
Not that tall, around 4 ft. We keep them on cables sometimes too, just to make sure they won't run away, but we also let them run around a lot, and that will have to stop. Thankfully, there's a abandoned pasture not half a mile away, and I take them there to play. Yes, the retriever used to come to our property at least 3 times a week, but it's lessened ever since he got in a tussle with our pyrenees. The pyr is the only reason he didn't full on attack the two pups.

Oh! Update! So, the man that owns the retriever happens to be related to our landlord. Our landlord called, saying that the man said that our two smaller dogs ( the pups) are too aggressive, and that he "feared for his safety, and he thought he was going to be bit" he said that they were a danger, and had chased him while he ran! One, my dogs have NEVER bit anyone, two, they are NEVER off leashes! He has run by us before, but the dogs always stood right beside me, no issues. Our landlord said that both pups need to be gone by the weekend.... I'm so furious right now. His dog attacked my pups, and now we have to get rid of them because of another person's irresponsibility! Thankfully, my sister can take one, and I already have someone wanting the other, but it still breaks my heart, I've put so much work into these dogs, and raised and bottle fed them since I found them....

Oh that's horrible! I would challenge the landlord and ask them if they really want to lose the income from your rent check. If so I woukd move asap and I wouldn't get rid of my dogs. That's asinine! They can't force you to rehome the dogs. It would take awhile for them to evict you. I'd start looking for a new place immediately. Good luck! You don't deserve this!

Sadly enough, the landlord is in the 'control' position. Moving is never easy and threats of 'moving' to a landlord can have serious repercussions.

back when I rented I never let a landlord intimidate me into getting rid of a dog. I've always challenged them and 95% of the time I won. I have great pyrs and border collies. The pyrs were always over the 30lb allowed size but a lot of landlords want steady on time rent more than they want to adhere to their rules for dog allowances. Threatening to move works more than you'd think if you're actually willing to move. I'd be out of there in a heartbeat if my dogs were threatened. They are family and I will and have move(d) to accommodate them.

You say that you know that the pits can climb the fence - are you absolutely, totally, 100% sure about anything and everything that could have occurred at some time when they might have gone over the fence and you didn't see it? This guy may have an unreasoning fear of pit bulls, but their bites are impressive (even allowing for oriental hyperbole), and I know I wouldn't care to risk getting chewed on by one. If this guy has such a poorly trained and badly socialized Golden, my guess is he isn't really a dog person, in which case, anything less than goofy, tail-wagging tongue-lolling hail-fellow-well-met could be seen as a threat by him.

If this guy had kept his dog on his property, where it belongs, this wouldn't have happened. I'm sorry that you are losing your dogs because of him, though it sounds like you have a couple of good homes lined up for them. Kudos to you for having done so much for some dogs that some irresponsible person threw away!

The thing is, both dogs are trained not to leave the property. They ran off once onto the road, and ever since then, I've only let them run around while I supervise them, so nothing has happened since then. I also know when this said man runs, and theyre never in the yard at that time. Also, the white pup is actually very fearful around men, and won't even go up to one, so I know she would never chase him.

We were planning on buying an electric fence as a "just in case" but now there's no reason to since they have to go... Lord knows that wouldn't keep in the pyrs of they wanted out!

Thanks for all the consolations and advice. The white pit mix has a good home ready, and the other is going to my sisters until we move. He told us to get rid of out pyrs too because "they look vicious" but that just isn't happening! One is eight years old, and doesn't go anywhere even given the chance! If the other isn't on leash or with us, he's on a cow cable, so I really doubt he's going anywhere either.

I challenged him on the pyrs and Bernese. They've been with me too long, and have protected my family too faithfully to be going anywhere. We start house shopping on Monday, and until then, the big dogs stay. This isn't the first time that this landlord and man have stirred up trouble, but this is the last straw.

I don't blame you. Good for you putting your foot down. Good luck in the house search! I do not envy you but I admire your dedication to your loyal dogs and ability to safely rehome the others.

Thank you. It just blows me away that his dog attacking my puppies could lead to him lying about how aggressive my dogs were, and how they needed to be removed... It just make no sense how someone can be that cowardly and malicious.

Oh, so the Pyrs "look vicious, "do they? That's a real load of horse hooey (I have 5 horses; I know hooey when I see it!!) I've had dogs my entire adult life, including a few nut jobs that I didn't trust anywhere beyond my reach. And yet, the only one of mine that ever broke human integument was a 20-lb mixed breed with big, brown, beagle eyes and the most loving, friendly, devoted fursonality you'd ever want to meet (a real airhead, though; we called her 'the bewilderbeast.'). "Looks like" is nothing but making lame excuses..

Yep, time to move - and I hope you wind up with a much nicer, more sensible landlord!

Lol so true, the only dog I ever got bit by was a mini dochshund! The pyrs aren't human aggressive at all unless you trespass, and then they're just doing their duty. Already looking at a few places, and one has more land, so that's always a bonus!
