Also think it may be socially communicable through BYC.

But there is no proof just one womans suspicion.

@perchie.girl
You are right, it is amazing the things people will deliver to your door!!!
I've been reading about black solider flies... Seems easy enough.

I'm from Fla, so you'll have to forgive me for not being able to wrap my head around the idea of paying for bugs and then having them delivered...

(that's for the bugs, not you all)

Here they are! Sorry for the late answer

No need to apologize!!! =)
They're super cute!!!

Nope! She is cute though!

Absolutely!!!!!

Morning everyone!
Well our storms are finally over (at least until later today, sigh) and our power is holding. Only minor damage from my lack of quick response but no electronics fried (I have good surge protection on all the important stuff, aka my "toys" and the satellite. Maybe I should put them on the freezer etc.).
Cranky broody is still broody this morning tho I can take her off the nest pretty easy then she goes squacking and flapping to eat and drink, and she came off by herself for a while before dark yesterday. still hoping to either get her something to sit on or some chicks. If I can't by the end of the week I will start breaking her this weekend.

Love the new baby pics!!!

Hope the fires out west are getting under control, hope none of my chickie friends on the east coast got hit by last night's storms

I am involved with a class teaching pet (canine) CPR tonight at the county seat. We have a good advance registration and hoping for some walk-ins. Should be a fun time.
Maybe someone there will have chicks or eggs!!!
fl.gif

Have a great week all!

I hope you're able to get the eggs.
(I'm off my soap box about the power and I'm not getting back on; I don't have anything nice to say, so I'm not saying anything)

Yup, The brown one is Caramel, The Black with white stripes is Obsidian and the yellow-white one is Chica
big_smile.png

Chica is a cute name!
We have a Caramel. We got five RSLs two years ago this spring (and lost one) but the kids named the other four from darkest to lightest: Chocolate, Caramel, Goldie, and Sandy. We've since lost Goldie, but we've got one of her daughters, so...

Hello Everyone!

I wanted to drop in and say how much I've been missing everyone on here and BYC!!!
My mom was very ill in a nursing home and passed away last month. There were issues of neglect and abuse.
She had two fractured vertebrae and had surgery but it was just too much for her.
As always spring and summer are so busy, but with mom being 2 hours away it really took a lot of energy and time.
This weekend we are having her memorial and I really hope to be back here on a regular daily basis again!
in keeping with the thread here's my meager offering for the day:

Can't wait to get caught up with all of the news and fun posts!

Been missing you, Hon!!!
I'm sorry to hear about your mom!

Thanks for the image, so appripo!!!

Oh that kind of logic....
th.gif
I was thinking of logic circuits, or logic in programming...

deb
lau.gif

Nope. DH and I took two third-year courses in our degree program in the spring and we both need electives. So, we chose two second year courses (I searched and found two that he'd be interested in) and we're taking those (not the art class I stuck on the list b/c I really wanted to take it, but didn't put it to him that way)...where was I? Oh yeah... So we're taking History of the United States I and Logic for Lawyers. Needless to say, he's enjoying both and going to pass with flying colors and I'm hating history (I'm no good at remembering all the facts and stupid little things they ask you to make sure you read, but there isn't really a right answer). I'm going to pass, b/c their easy enough (read, write, take the quiz, repeat). But I'm not holding my breath for an A in either one.
That logic circuits and programming things you're talking about...that sounds like computer stuff; I'd do even worse in courses like those!

Quote: when I started college I wanted to be a Systems Analyst in computer programming... a male dominated field in those days 1973. the college councilor signed me up for all classes that were for women working in an office. They had me programming sorting machines... the programming was like you would do for the old tyme switch boards... plugging in plugs to make connections. writing the programs was slightly interesting but when it came times to plug in stuff I grew angry and very bored.

I wanted programming like Fortran and Basic the same as I had had in Highschool... needless to say I forgot to go to finals.... Most ofh the classes took my grades for the year... All As and Bs. One let me take a make up test.

So the next semester I took what I wanted... Boolean Algebra and Art...
lau.gif
Loved the Algebra... Got an A in Metal Sculpture as well Art composition.... and Was told in the Drawing class BY the teacher I would never be an artist....
th.gif
. I stopped drawing of any kind... and dropped school after a year.

The boolean Algebra had the logic course in it as well because it was geared for programming. The logic works for Electricity as well...

Dropping out gave me an opportunity to work and figure out what I wanted to do next. But I really didnt go back to college seriously till I was in my late 40s.

I'm in my mid-thirties. When I was a kid, all I wanted to be when I grew up was a mom; I figured I'd teach at preschool until if/when I got married and started having children. When I started back to school, I had to figure out what I want to be when they grow up. lol
When I was in high school, I had to dual enroll just to take science classes and math higher than Algebra 1/2 (yup, after acing Alg I Hon, they put me in Pre-Algebra). While I was dual enrolled anyway...I took basic design and ceramics I and II. I got a D in basic design b/c I forgot my piece for finals and didn't turn it in at all; I avoided the art building for over a week and then finally got the guts to apologize to the instructor and the curiosity of what he thought of my design overcame my embarrassment at having forgotten it on the most important day of the class. He said he would have accepted my piece and I would have earned an A in the course if I had brought it to him before final grades were due from him. After ceramics, he told me that I could use his clay and make anything I wanted and he'd fire it for me.
I don't draw either. I guess I'm in good company! =)
Going back now to actually get a degree has been interesting. I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I've slowly settled on a psychology degree over the past few years. The funny thing is that I'm more the type of person to take an interdisciplinary degree and DH is the type of person to settle on a field and get a degree in something specific, but I'm getting a psychology degree (that sounds boring lol) and he still doesn't know what he wants to be when he grows up. lol

I think it's silly to give female students bookkeeping and sorting classes. That's utter nonsense. I appreciate what women like you went through back then so that I can take whatever classes are going to afford me the opportunities to do what I have the God-given talents to do! Thanks!!!

I KWYM. I lost a lot of chickens last year. Not as many this year, but still a lot again.
It doesn't get easier, but we learn from our mistakes and we learn to take the lumps of animal husbandry...the great circle of life.
