I enjoyed school... But I remember that I had to be careful about how I planned my classes so that I didn't get overloaded and fall apart.

I twice tried to take classes in the summer.... The summer I took classes at a community college was FINE. However, the year I tried to take summer classes at the regular college I felt myself starting to unravel and so I dropped those classes very quickly.

I found I needed to have one really easy and fun class per semester, and not more than one class could be super difficult. I had to carefully balance my schedule.

As long as things were balanced, I was fine..... Until organic chemistry.

I think I tried that class three times, a fancy tutor once. The third time, it was CLEAR that I was just never going to figure this out.

I remember I walked into my advisors office and pounded my fist down on his desk. I told him that I WAS going to graduate with the degree that I had already chosen. I would NOT leave there until he figured out how it would work. He had to find some class that I was capable of passing that could be substituted for Organic Chemistry.

He just looked at me for a moment and then said sure, instead of Organic Chemistry, we would substitute in Artificial Insemination. I got an A in that class, and my degree. :lau

TEN YEARS?!?!!?!?  And you survived?????
I went for one year when I was dual enrolled in high school.
Now, I've been going mostly half-time for three years; this last year I was full-time, and then I tacked on two classes in the first term of summer, so now, I'm soooooo ready for a break!!!!!
I know right? Amazed even me. Lol.

Yeah, balancing classes is a big deal. Too little, and you risk staying in school longer than necessary, too many hard classes and you're probably going to have melt down! Lol

Hi everyone
Did you miss me??? Just been really busy (like all of you I'm sure) but I had to pop in and check on everyone.

Thanks to the help from my friend over on the Australorp thread I no longer have a broody!!! I just have a happy hen again !
And without a lot of unnecessary stress on either her or me, whew.

I loved going to school, I loved going back to school, and I even enjoyed taking some of the required "silly" classes in the summer.
I love learning and would still be taking classes if it were geographically possible. I have even resorted to taking courses in all sorts of
things just for the opportunity to learn something new.

Deb - a huge congrats on the rain!!!

we got just under a full inch of rain in less than half an hour yesterday in a cloud burst. No need to water the gardens today!

I decided to try college at the age of 39. I really did not think I could do it. To my surprise I managed to not only accomplish it, but I also managed to pass with good grades. I love learning... I don't always like all the work that goes with it.

I went back at 48... never finished in the first place but my grades carried over from 1970s to 2001...

so I just had to take Physics, electronics, Archetectural Drafting, Design Theory, Mechanical drafting which included GIS... Oh and Economics... just to get my Associates of science in Drafting... I could have taught all except physics. the last time I had physics was in 1970 or 71 in Highschool.

Paid for it... ITT Tech... on Mostly grants and a small student loan.

All night school classes two subjects per week. Loved that Physics class even if there were no labs. the professor was Mr. Dang... He was Chinese and taught in one of the Colleges during the Tienanmen square protests in 1989... that was the year my son was born.

He had his lectures precisely scripted and memorized in english... He could handle questions but you had to be able to understand his grammar... I loved it. the diagrams he drew on the board of actions and reactions and what was going on with force and potential and effect.... Very clear... My highschool classes helped with terminology... but I really learned the real deal from someone out of history.
