Great articles Chickiesoup!

Alaskan will be happy she has a new hatching project to look forward to.

I dont think there is a way to keep chickadees out of your yard. They are every where! But if you find a way let me know. I stopped feeding the wildbirds back in Feb. I still have some that come around but way less I am hoping after spending the summer up north they wont bring something back from vacation as they migrate south for the winter.

yep. I don't feed the wild birds except in the dead of winter because it attracts bears to the yard but we still have lots of chickadees and all sorts of migrators that spend the summer in our field and woods. Even the cranes, loons and some geese nest in our lower back forty where the creek runs thru. Everyone up here was already cringing about the south migration because it obviously hits us first and I'm right in the middle of the Mississippi flyway and now it's showed up in a non-migrating song bird not that far from me?

Pretty soon my girls are going to be running around their play yard in little bubble suits!!!

ROFL. Bubble suits on your chickens.

Where in mn are you. I'm from lake Elmo.

I can think of one way to keep chickadees out. It involves a pellet gun.

are nightshades poisonous to chickens? or just not good for them?
Also I had read, don't now where, when I first started raising chickens that nothing with acid tomato's orange pineapple all burn their tongues. Is this accurate?

IDK.
My chickens won't touch ripe tomatoes (although they'll eat the green ones off my plants if given half a chance) or oranges; IDK about pineapple. IDK if it's got to do with the acid burning their tongues or not.
