Hey doing simple this Thanks giving.

12 pound turkey basic stuffed and roasted We tent with foil so there will be lots of stuff for gravy
I have to boxes of stuffing so we will be happy.
I make decent gravy all good.
Mashed new potatoes... rustic with skins on

New recipes:
Creamed onions
Green bean casserole
Yam casserole not candied but sweet and savory.
Lime jello mold

Side dishes:
Cranberry Jelled and Whole
Black olives
Sweet pickles

To drink
Buttermilk
Water
Diet pepsi

We don't do bread haven't done bread in about 30 years.
We get enough bread in the stuffing. and in the sandwiches afterwards.


Store bought pie:
Pumpkin
Apple
real whipped cream

Sounds like a spread!

We decided on smoked then fried turkey or roasted turkey.. Idunno what exactly, spouse is doing two turkeys, that is all I know.

We are also cooking one deer backstrap

Cornbread dressing with giblets

Giblet gravy

Meat sauce popovers

Some kind of yeast bread (not sure what)


And in-laws are bringing mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans


Dessert is a pumpkin pie with lots of cream cheese

Drinks are water, eggnog and adult eggnog



Actually feels crazy wrong to not eat home grown muscovy duck But the kids and I were outvoted, spouse and in-laws won, so store bought turkey it is.

Just taking a sanity break and gazing deep into my coffee mug. All the frenzy of cleaning about to be replaced by the chaos of visiting relatives. First time we've had guests at our house longer than overnight. Got the last bit of unpacking done, but still missing a living room sofa (to be delivered Friday). Supposed to rain, too.

We were warned that this would happen--Avian Flu and the Drought cut millions of Turkeys this year.

There may be a shortage of pumpkins and Turkeys next year too.

I knew that but There were alot of people who didnt... When the turkeys first hit the store before the sales I bought one. then that weekend I talked mom into the Buy one get one free deal. She got two. So for this dinky family of four we are good for this year and the next. Moms got a huge freezer. Thank goodness.
