Evening everyone

Didn't start my apples today after all. The cooler weather didn't quite move in in time. The cold front, along with the heavier storms, is supposed to slide in over night so that will be my project for tomorrow instead. I was just outside and I can already feel the ever so slight change in the air. I can't wait for that cool breeze to kick up. The chooks must feel the change too because I finally got an egg this afternoon!!! Between the molt, the heat and all the coop drama going on from introducing my survivors to the big girls, they've all been on strike

. I've even had to put my "boss" hen in a timeout for thinking it was suddenly ok to mount and try to completely de-feather my sweetest small Aussie. ("small" because she wound up much smaller than her sisters).

Chicki, we too are starting to see fall. Of course, having been blessed with near constant rain, heat has not been a problem.

As to coffee oh WOWSERS!!!!!!

I went and socialized today (don't worry, I survived, still breathing and walking...), and met my friend at a coffee shop.

It is a new coffee shop and large with tall ceilings, it is clearly trying to be "big city fancy". So I went in, and I was pretty darn hungry. No one had cooked then served me food for lunch, so it being 2:30 already I was famished. I decided I wanted a "savory pesto hand pie" and a thing that looked like a cinnamon roll along with a fancy coffee.

Well.... Sheesh

It turned out the "hand pie" was full of all sorts of root veggies and hemp (the non-happy version), and was NOT tasty. The cinnamon roll thing wasn't good either. It tasted a bit stale, not sweet and it was more poppy and cardamon but almost no sugar. :sick (I do like cardamon...but only when used with sugar).

Then the coffee.....

So, they hand me my coffee and I want to add sugar.

I stand there at the "doctor your coffee counter" and there is no obvious sugar. They have several different salt shakers with stuff in them. One of the shakers looks like sugar mixed with cinnamon. That one should be safe...right? Well it came out super slow, but looked right... So I then sat down and after praying I tasted it.

:barnie

It was salt with I think cayenne, not sugar with cinnamon.

Wowsers, but I impressively hate coffee with salt and cayenne... Just sayin.

I had a much easier day then avoiding the heat as much as possible
I had my BF help me re arrange my room this lead to the need for more curtains as
more open windows staring at me from here.. needed the curtain rod laying beneath my bed
for 6 months put up the BF being tagged to do so, to make amends after he hung my curtains I sewed
(I have a 1929 White rotary sewing machine I love and cherish more than a child)
with said I had been going to be making manly flannel curtains for his room for over two months
took and finished his for at least two of the four windows we each have in our rooms

Good Saturday morning everyone

remember how I said we were in for a couple days of cooler and very wetter?
The TV just scrolled a flash flood watch til tomorrow for the 2 counties to our west.
I am learning to truly appreciate our sandy soil. (we perk like a spaghetti strainer

Great this year, not so much during drought years.

Great this year, not so much during drought years.

I also love living on a sand dune this year!

I am sloughing off again. The WWD is working today so I can do what I want all day long! I plan to drink coffee until Noon. Then maybe slowing down for a nap.

The weather is terrible, with all this rain I can't get much done.

So Coffee and nap time it is. I spent yesterday canning. I have more to do, but a nap sounds so comfy....
