Sizzle vs Frizzle pictures please, I don't see the difference...

ok so frizzles are very similar too sizzles but there is a difference between them. Frizzles have very stiff feathers and sizzles because they are crossed with silkies have slightly stiff feathering but the feathers are very soft and fluffy.

I was told sizzle are cochin and silkie and frizzle can be any breed that carries the "frizzle" gene Most commonly a cochin. Here are pics of my sizzle hens....they have a top knot coming in with six toes.

Sizzles are supposed to be both frizzle feathered AND silkie feathered.

Fuzzy and feathered? Are mine sizzle? Or frizzle? They are still young and have some fuzzy but look mostly feathered....they have six toes like silkie also. They are supposed to be silkie/cochin mix from what I was told. There's so much information that is off. Just when you think you know something.... Lol

To me yours are frizzles.
Honestly I like frizzles and I like silkies but never got into the need to mix them.
You're correct frizzle is a type of feathering. It can be breed into any breed.
Way back in the day a frizzle was referred to like it was a breed and at one time I had never heard of anything being frizzled except for bantam cochins which were just called frizzles.
Silkie is sorta the same. silkies are a breed but it is because of a type of feathering that it got its name. Silkie feathered can also be bred into any breed and there now are other breeds that come with silkie feathers.
Somewhere along the line people got the idea to put both feather types on the same bird. The sizzles were born.
The way I understood it was to bring in the frizzle gene from mostly frizzled cochins into the silkies then breed back to silkies until you had a bird that was everything silkie plus the frizzled feathers.
That's my understanding as what a sizzle is at this point. No doubt if not by now it won't be long until the frizzled plus silkied feathers will be bred into other breeds and then sizzles will be know as sizzles such and such.
The issue is when bringing in the frizzle genes there will be a few generations of just mixed breed birds. Partially silkie and partially other breeds like cochin.
People put labels on them instead of just saying its a sizzle project you have confusion of what is or isn't what. Just like the new term smooth feathered silkies. Just adds confusion. I mean how you calling something silkie that doesn't have silkie feathers? Same with sizzles not to see calling something a sizzle when it doesn't have both feather types.

Ok....that helped out a bit. I thought, before researching, that sizzle and frizzle were basically the same thing....a bird with wacky feathers. I've just been getting so much mixed information I got to the point where I didn't know wth to call em. For now, we'll say sizzle lol. No matter what they are, I'm absolutely in love with their personality and looks.
