I have to agree, they are not at all flattering. No matter how thin, petite the girl or guy, no matter body shape. IMO they do NOT flatter what-so-ever. I have yet to see anyone wearing them and go "oh hey that looks good"
NO way. I like slight boot cut or straight leg. Im a jeans kind of girl, a my-jeans-fit-me-properly kind of girl.
As a guy, I think skinny jeans are a lose/lose for women.. Here's why:
If you're thin enough to wear skinny jeans the way they're supposed to be worn, you're not shaped like a woman should be shaped...not imho, anyway. And it's not like I'm an "old fart" either -- I'm only 31. Look, I don't care if you're a woman of 18 or 48, you should have a butt, and there's no room for a decent butt in skinny jeans!! There just isn't!
On the other hand, if you're shaped like a woman should be shaped, you look RIDICULOUS in skinny jeans because of what I'd term "the toothpaste effect"...where it looks like you're being squeezed from the ankles up and collecting near the hips and waist. Sorry, but it's just not flattering. That little voice in your head that's saying "I know these are in, but this looks wrong" is absolutely correct...HEED THE WARNING!
Plus, in both cases...are skinny jeans wearers expecting a water main break or something? Oh, and no...your ironic sk8r shoes and striped socks do NOT make it ok for your pants to be 4" too short. In fact, they only serve to make you look like a cross between bugs bunny and the wicked witch of the west. And if you think your feet suddenly look awfully big when your ankles are wrapped up tighter than a pinner in Tommy Chong's glovebox, THEY DO. Yeah, I said it...skinny jeans make your feet look HUGE.
Ok, I think I'm done now. And a big thank you to whomever started this thread... I've apparently been looking for an outlet for this for a while now..
but I wear other jeans too...usually I'm in my runner's shorts anyway. But yes there are skinny jeans that are like "WHOA! DIDN'T WANT TO SEE THAT!" and then skinny jeans that aren't too tight. I love PacSun, but I only buy things on clearance or on sale.
i dont were jeans i like stretchy clothes i think if you can look good in those type of jeans more power to you but ive got more weight on my thighs than anywhere else so they dont flatter me.
Blondie looked great in skinny jeans. It should have stopped there.
I agree on not being able to find jeans that aren't mom or floozy jeans, yet are still attractive. I don't have the body of an 18 yo or a 65 yo and I can't find jeans for anything in between. I know they have them, but I'm not willing to pay $100 for a pair of jeans.
I now wear pants and skirts. I LOVE the Gloria Vanderbilt pants in the petite section of JC Penneys. And they don't LOOK tough, but I've fallen UP the stairs and taken a lot of skin off my calf, but the pants don't show any wear there at all. They look great with heels, flats, maybe not white tennies so much....
BTW, all those Oprah shows where the women got fitted for jeans and everyone oohed and ahhhhd, you know, not EVERYONE should wear jeans.
