Sled dog breeding

They'd be sled dogs.
Not show.
Bottom has a ful pedigree of champs though.

Well like i said it's hard to tell with out being there. I would get the top for where you live. You want more hound type dogs. Thats means big ears, short fur, etc. Like Meringue. Having large coats like the bottom dog can be bad for hot weather, It's easy to warm a dog but it's hard to cool a hot one.

Petfinder is not a place to look for show or sled dogs.

usually i would totally agree with you bu since earlier the OP said she wanted to do rec mushing, petfinder is a good place. For rec the dogs just need to have a love for pulling and in good health. Since your not trying to improve anything about the dogs there is not reason to go out and buy $50000 Iditarod dogs. The main goal of rec mushing is having fun and enjoying the thrill of being with your dogs on the trail. I've seen and heard of rec teams that are all from pounds.

When we used to mush it took 5 years to finally have a steady reliable team. Ran a team of 9, 2 large siberians on wheel and alaskans all the way up. Great times. Nothing more relaxing than sledding through the bush.

I love Alaskans! They come back if they get loose unlike most Siberians. I agree with you. i love being alone with my dogs on trails!

Lol yes yes, i can remember taking a couple spills and just waiting for them to finsih the trail and connect back to the home trail. Came home with a couple broken sleds though.

haha. the first time i went mushing i went with my friend who has a team. I only fell 2 time and was kinda impressed with my self. The fist time we went over a tree the fell down. the 2nd time the team started running with me but with out her, so i tipped the sled to make them stop. I don't count the 2nd time though.

The OP has also stated an interest in showing dogs. Without knowing if she wanted the pup for sled or show I wanted to inform the OP of the faults I saw in both pups.

Here it is way to hot to sled with my dogs or I probably would! But I put mine in obedience and agility. I did the obedience to give them a good recall and stay and now we do agility and obstacle races together. We have a lot of fun doing both and most of the time my Siberians come back. Every now and then they get the zoomies and all I can do is watch, laugh, and try to catch them!
