Sleep tracking watches

Sleep problems are the pits. I'm in the middle of a bout of insomnia myself. I feel like I sleep properly one night a week, after not sleeping the other 6 nights, I'm so exhausted I sleep for a night. Last night was good. I only got up about 3 times. The night before was bad and I was doing things in real life based on things I'd been dreaming, my husband said I seemed awake and lucid, but it was some sort of weird equivalent of sleep walking/talking. I hope you can get some good data and get to the bottom of things. It certainly can mess with your head.

I have had my sleep problem for as long as I can remember, and I have been blamed for it, even though it's not something I have much control over.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could simply fall asleep when we close our eyes and then wake up feeling rested/refreshed at the appropriate time. Definitely not your fault.

My brother in law has sleep problems, he also has a number of other low level mental health issues.
Both my nephews developed sleep problems, one leading to fairly serious attention deficit syndrome.
I developed minor sleep problems when I was an admin and mod for a gaming web site as did a number of other site members.
The answer for my brother in law was a job change where he no longer sat in front of a computer all day.
The same remedy worked for all of the above.
No app or medication is going to do any long term good.
The answer is, give up being a moderator and switch the computer off and spend some time outside in the real world.
My sleeping pattern went back to normal withing a few weeks of not being on the computer at all.

I can't remember the last time I wore a watch, but sometimes things like that bother me. I hope it wouldn't bother me immensely, which could disturb my sleep, tainting the results.
Wearing something loosely on your wrist shouldn't disrupt your sleep anymore than it already is. Don't overthink it.
The overthinking itself makes it worse.

Yes. For starters we keep phones/tablets/computers out of the bedroom, but I don't think it's that simple a fix for more serious sleep issues, which it sounds like the OP has. There are lots of things that factor into how well we sleep so it could be a combination of things. Mental stimulation/thoughts/emotional stuff, hormones, temperature, things like how efficiently our endocrine system is working, exercise, etc. all related to the levels of a lot of different compounds in our bodies. I think the sleep tracker will help isolate the problem a bit, is it falling asleep, is it staying asleep, is it that the intervals between the "restless" times are such that you cannot enter all phases of sleep, etc. ?

I've been following along with OPs sleep issues for months.
