sleepy baby quail?

i got 5 two day old bobwhite quail yesterday. we have had baby chicks before but the quail seem very sleepy. is this normal? i saw them eat yesterday and i have added sugar to their water. i think they had a stressful trip here, so maybe they are just resting a little more? i also have the heat lamp at about 100 degrees for them with plenty of space to move away, and i changed it to a red bulb because i noticed one or two were picking at the others. any advice?

well, i got two to perk up with a little sugar water. no wonder kids get so wired from sugar......lol. you go from near death to the road runner in two sips!

Yeah they sleep a lot and they like to stretch out on their sides. First time I saw one like that I thought it was dead.

I have only raised a couple, but when they were real small they would run around lighting quick for a few seconds then fall asleep.

two of them don't seem to want to open their eyes but will move a few steps if you touch them. is that normal for quail? they are so tiny i can't imagine trying to medicate them, they are like bumble bees with legs.

You can try to give them light karo syrup
That may give them a pick me up

trying to give them karo syrup didn't work......they are too small and it was messy. i gave them a few drops of sugar water. their eyes are still shut. is this a problem from hatching?

Some are just weak hatching is hard business.
