Slow Crop with Molt

Flash’s crop was still huge this morning. Maybe not as firm. She got a second enzyme capsule, a large dose of frozen coconut oil, and a little massage. They also all got a baby bird formula treat with buttermilk since so many of them are molting.

It’s a long work day today with board meeting, so I won’t be abke to check her until after she’s gone to bed.
When I was massaging Minnie for her crop I was always doing it at 4am as the only time I could catch her and reliably be at home.
I ended up loving my early morning cuddle with her!

I’m curious what the outcome was for your hen?

Sorry, I never saw this question. I realize it was a loooong time ago, but in case you’re still on BYC, I did eventually help Flash clear her crop and she’s doing great! She’s 4 1/2 now, and recently came back into lay after taking winter off.
I'm dealing with the same thing with my 4 year old hen. Crop is solid in the morning until I massage it. It loosens up and is loose all day. The next morning it's hard again. She is the lone molter and has been this way during her hard molts. It seems worse than usual so I'm afraid she will get a pendulous crop, because it's been a little loose for a couple years. How long did it take to resolve? @micstrachan
