Slow Growing Pekin! Very worried :(

I’m not sure if this helps any, but this was my pekin at two weeks old. I figured you could compare size and see if they match.

Best i can do is keep the good feed, When you run out of duckling feed use a duck grower pellet, Keep up the niacin and meal worms

Cheap cat food makes awesome high protein treats too

He looks happy and healthy i have confidence he will be okay!

What do you think @Miss Lydia and @Magnolia Ducks ?

Thank you all so so much. We used to have all Pekins and they grew fast and they were big. This little one is happy and always energetic. He always quacks the loudest and run pretty fast too. Thats why i freaked out when he doesn't seem to grow so fast. We weigh him every 5 days and he consistently gains 1 oz a day on average. Crossing finger he'll be good.

He was much smaller at 2 weeks. It almost seemed like there is no difference from 1 week and 2 weeks. The way I see it, he grows Half as fast as we expected...
Maybe they could be right about him being a white layer. Unfortunately, I don’t have any experience with those, so I can’t help much.

Do you watch when feeding to make sure the overclock isn't pushing him out. They are subgroup animals that sometimes they will go hungry rather than eat alone. As long as he is consistently being weight, I think it's just a wait and see. If he stops gaining come back to see us.

@WannaBeHillBilly kept a spreadsheet of weights to track his white layers, maybe he could provide some input.
Here is the spreadsheet for my Spring Ducklings - even if this duckling is a White Layer it is very light. My WLs were all over 1 Kilogram (2lbs 3.2Oz) with just four weeks.
I suspect parasites in the digestive system, if you don't have a vet or a lab at hand (or your last-name ain't Rockefella) you treat all your duck(ling)s with a de-wormer (Wazine) as a measure of precaution.
And yes, i think it is a White Layer, mine had thos weird feathers at the tail too. And the bill and the legs say White Layer - unless your camera dulls the color orange.

I got him from Tractor Supply! I am hoping he's not pure bred which may explain the smaller size... but Tractor Supply told me they're Pekin.

You think that's enough feeding daily for both ducks? I never really changed my feeding and have used the same stuff for my previous ducks and they seemed to grow fine.
first of all, I love tractor supply but the people that work there aren't always the best for accurate information. I would definitely not feed him any more spinach. It affects calcium uptake. Also, get some B-complex at TSC and give him 1 ml over something he'll be sure to eat right up. Whatever it is that is wrong that will only help him and give him a needed boost.

Good catch on the spinach.

Thank you so much. Yeah we fed him spinach when he was 4 weeks old but only for a little bit for 1 week. Thankfully I haven’t since. Is lettuce ok? Mealworm and dry shrimp?
