Slow Night Here In Quailville

MUST BE NICE TO BE GETTING EGGS--- I GOT THE 1ST ONE IN OVER A WEEK TODAY--- I CANT EVEN PLAY WITH FREE EGGS IN MY 'BATOR CAUSE ALL MY GUYS GOT THE MOLT BUG ALL AT ONCE--- CHICKENS AND QUAIL SIMULTANEOUSLY. THAT AND THE FACT THAT I HAVENT RIGGED THE LIGHTS IN THE COTURNIX PEN YET DOESNT HELP EITHER....

I done a little work to my bator on my byc page. i installed a wafer thermostat and now onlt swings .3 degrees

on my quail the way i have the pens set up im going to use a string of christmas lights with the clear bulbs not the mini bulbs and not the huge bulbs the mid size bulbs

KING I THINK THE HIGH FELUTEN FOLKS CALL THEM CORNISH GAME HENS.....

I hope they have that much meat on them.

Mine are on there molt also. Half are still laying. I got 4 duck eggs & they ether quit again or are hiding them, 3-4 bantam EE, & I'm up to 5 pullet eggs a day now.

If I put lights on mine, I'm going to get those battery-operated 'tap' lights. That way I won't have to figure out how to run a cord out there. But I'm still trying to decide how I'm going to 'pen' my birds, if I go with the building idea, rather than tractors, I'll have electricity in there, and I'll be able to use a regular light

i put mine on the back side of my building. put the strand of lights under the tin on the outside of the pin and put them on a timer

If you put that water thermostat right against the heat source it won't have as much swing.

Its pritty close now within about 6 inches. it cycles to fast it could be to close and the wafer is heating up before the rest of the bator has a chance to but i need to try it both ways its a work in progress. but .3 degrees is not bad over a 12 hour window
