I tried and tried to post last night and I couldn't post pms or replies or anything. So I am hoping this goes through. Here is a brown and a golden from a mixed hatch. I also have a tuxedo. I know nothing about color genetics in quail. What colors are dominant?

we should ask Sam he knows alot about quail genetics..JJ too! My guess...brown!

I would love to know more about genetics (if they also applied for buttons), as I want to try to start finding colour mutations here in Australia and try to maintain those colour threw breeding. We seem to not have very many colours here, but I have heard they are out there somewhere, but the are rare. So I thought if I could get some of those rarer colours going then I would be able to sell them and try to get it more interesting.
Sonya from here is interested too. She wants to buy some of my silvers and she is keeping her eye out as well for those rare ones.
I will keep comming back and seeing if you guys have come up with anything interesting I can use for my quest!!!

Not me! I'm no mad scientist trying to cook up a hot pink with hunter's orange polk dotted quail! I breed for size and am happy with what i get. I would say ask shellyd because she is an exceptional resource for genetic and breeding colors, but thanks to Nifty and the gestapo she's banned! Iron sun or monarc are your next best guesses for genetics and i havent seen either on here in a long time....

as button color is different then coturnix if you want to work with buttons you need info on them and them alone

I just bought 24 jumbo brown eggs from ugly ducky. Maybe I can sneak them in the bator without my husband noticing.
