SLR digital camera

Minolta lenses fit on Sony. I have a few Minolta lenses, and am wondering about getting a Sony, like the Alpha 300 or 350. Does anyone know the quality of them, picture quality as well as durability (repairs)?

didn't you post elsewhere that the dh also wants you to get rid of the chickens because of the cost ?

you could buy a lot of feed for an astrophotography camera

Yes I did. He is saying we'll keep two for now.

The astronomy is a family hobby. It is one of the things we spend a lot of time together doing. He is not planing on buying it for a while because to use it to the best of it's ability we also need a laptop and special programs. All in all it will be about $1000-$1500. That will come probably next year with tax returns.

The expense is well worth it for all the quality time spent with the family. As well as all the education we all get.

I agree! I've always been a Minolta person, and they have a wonderful depth of field. Sony took them over, and I've been looking at Sony dslr bodies so I can still use the Minolta lenses. Sony also used alot of Minolta technology in their dslr's.

It would fit on a Minolta, but would require an adapter for other cameras. On other cameras I think it would require manual focusing during use.

thanks

I have not had those models, but I returned a sony camera a year ago it was terrible...overpriced. I bought a casio 10 mgpixel for like 110.00 on a 40% off clearance at Toy's R US....the regular price was like 269.... I have a 40-45 yo Nikon of my Dad's...it still works well has never been in a repair shop even once... I have his old Kodak too...still works 35mm from Word War II..about 1944 model. Nothing from sony lasts that long we've had several video cameras just crap out and same with the digital cameras. Lens is very good with either Nikon or Cannon...you do see old cameras that work. By the way...I droped both the Nikon and the Kodak, several times, scratched but worked. I have never had a Cannon but do know of several older working ones. They have actually improved...give Nikon a good run for the money.

You guys are great!! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Okay.. I wanted the Sony 300, but am concerned about the quality. The Nikon 60 sounds good, but I need to save more money. A friend has the Nikon 60 (or 40, can't remember) and showed me a great photo taken with a telephoto lens of her son who had just hit a softball and the ball was in clear focus. I haven't ruled out a Canon, but still don't know which one to I like. Deciding is very confusing!
