Small air cell

Your hygrometer may not be accurate.  I had my humidity bouncing between 11 and 40% until lock down.  Didn't worry too much about those lows and highs, they all averaged out.  I found it real easy to adjust things with a sponge in a cup, a length of aquarium tubing going through the vent and into the cup so I could squirt water in with a syringe when the humidity dropped too low.  I added more sponge for lock down.

It would be really helpful to know if the hygrometer is accurate. With adding no water today it got down to 10% and I just couldn't help but worry about that. So I got as little medicine cup and cut it in half so it wasn't too tall and would fit under the tray that the eggs are on and put water in it. It seems to be staying about 30-35%. If it wasn't for the air cells looking smallish I wouldn't worry. I will measure some on day 18. If they still look smallish do you think that it would hurt to not raise humidity till day 19?

Don't dwell on the numbers- that's all they are is numbers. They are good for a guide line, but if you are monitoring your air cells and "listening" to them, you should be fine. If your air cells are small than the lower humidity is what you want for them to increase their size.

Alright then, I'm leaving it alone till day 18 and I will check a couple of air cells and see where we are. Thanks for all y'all's help. I'm putting it out of my mind for now.

Thanks

Today at noon was day 18. I didn't get home till 8pm from work. I candled all the eggs. 2-3 had a much better air cell. The others had a larger air cell than at day 14 but not great. I went ahead and took the turner out and positioned them for hatch but I think I will wait till morning to increase the humidity. Most of the eggs were really dark and I couldn't really see anything in them except for the air cell. Some of them I could still make out some veins in spots and I was able to see movement in a couple. Does that sound normal?

The constant opening and closing the incubator messes more with your temperatures than anything..  Have you taken both plugs out?  .............. I quit keeping track of the humidity within the incubator because it drove me nuts... calibrating, which one is best, different opinions liked to have drove me crazy,

I concur.
I just throw the eggs in there and letem rip till day 18 when I remove vent plugs & racks, and fill the troughs. I don't draw pictures on the eggs, keep temp & humidity logs, micro manage and use voodoo or rocket science. (OK, I'll admit I did on my first several hatches but that was like a million hatches ago)
Everything about your hatch looks normal to me.
