Small space coop

I bought a small coop kit and made a floor for it out of deck boards. Then I set it up on 4x4 runners. That way I can move it around the yard during the summer. During the winter I built a 10’x10’ Shelter Logic shed in a box. Then pushed the coop into the shed for the winter. I put horse stall mats down on the the ground to help insulate and prevent moisture. I put a good layer of straw down for comfort and warmth. This allows them room to scratch and move around. For the run I found a 6’x10’ used dog pen and put chicken wire over the top. It is easy enough to move around the yard with the coop. During good weather I let them roam around the yard.

I had to do some extra work on the roll up door. I cut the fabric just above the door pipe in two places. Wrapped a chain around the pipe at the cuts. Bolted the chain as tight as I could leaving a tail to attach the chain on the inside. I installed two 8” ground anchors, in line with the chains about 4’ out from the door. One ground anchor inside under the horse mat. A strong screw in eye to the base of the coop platform.
