Oh, by the way @barred2rock, are the 2 chickens in your profile pic both hens? They look so similar to 2 of mine!
Such cuties!

Yeah, all five of my BRs are pullets. The one closest to the cam is my most mature and daily layer. The one in the background maybe the one laying the "rubber eggs", not sure.
Yes, you want all of the liquid parts out, I use a syringe to squirt water back inside afterwards to flush out any remaining egg stuff, but it's not necessary, just get all the liquid egg out. I tried to use the syringe to take the egg out, but that's a super long process, faster for me to just blow it out.Sorry, follow up question!I haven't tried it yet, but is the yolk supposed to come out, or just the egg white? Will the yolk rot in there, or just shrivel up and disappear? lol Would rather find out from someone who does it than from it rotting wherever I put it in a few weeks.
Made that mistake once when my grandpa somehow lost an egg and it got smashed - left the kitchen smelling like rotten egg for maybe a month! We tried all kinds of things to get rid of it. Who knows if it's really gone, maybe I'm just used to it.

Yep you got to get it all out. Once you get it started most of the time you can gently pull most of the egg out. As has been said you can also just sit the egg out and eventually it will just dry out until it's hollow. Got to be super careful doing this since until it's hollow it is pretty much a disaster waiting to happen. If I didn't have a big clumsy husband I would do this method more often.I have to add don't ever try to blow out an ostrich egg.I did it once to make a night light out of it. Took hours to do and it felt like id been slapped by Mike Tyson I do not recommend.
It turned out lovely, I cut little chicken shapes out of the shell so it would cast chickens. Made it for my little niece she thinks chickens are cool.
