Smallest egg I've ever seen!!

Soo guys. I feel kinda dumb because I was so convinced it was a chicken egg..
But I found another one today

Alright, it can't be a chicken egg. They couldn't have layed an egg this small twice in a row! I opened one of them..

Couldn't get a better photo, but the egg shell is much thinner than I thought but was still very though... And some small blood vessels. Well, I should have tried candelling it or something before opening it ( feel really bad now.

I'm pretty sure it's from a gecko, and I might try to hatch the other one? There's definitely something going on in there, some blood vessels and some development.

I think what caught me off guard was how similar the colours were to my actual chicken eggs, and how strong the shell was for such a small egg.. And also how I found it with the other eggs!

I'll go look tomorrow to see If I can find any others buried in the straw.

Well that explains it. I was thinking avian when I suggested parrot.
Reptile egg makes perfect sense, tough, thin shell, etc..
I love house geckos. Do you have any living behind pictures and mirrors in your house?

Yes, we have a lot around the house. I always leave them there, they don't bother at all and are just cute
The only problems are when they leave droppings and when they die. I've found a dead gecko in a box of tampons before.. And that's just gross.
Occasionally, when I'm able to catch a gecko I'll feed it to the chickens. They love it!

Hopefully not a lot of bacteria left behind. Keep the lid on.
Too many shedding droppings could be disconcerting.
I love what they do to night time insects and arachnids.
They're a reall asset to tropical living. I wish they could live here. We have no equivalent. Just skinks, fence lizards and snakes. None of which live in the house - normally.

Back in September, my hen hei-hei layed this adorable little egg. Took some photos, and when I cracked it there was even a little yolk inside! I was already pretty impressed at the size of this one... View attachment 2005315

But today, I stumbled upon the monster of all tiny eggs.. I don't know how it even is possible for a hen to lay such a small egg!
Not even sure who layed it, as they all lay in the same nesting box.

That also looks very much like a lizard egg. In FL we have small lizards everywhere they used to lay their eggs in our tack room.

We had tiny egg like that too!! From our BO.
There is even a tiny yolk inside! Compared to 2 eggs from my other hens.

True that...some of the coops I've seen at TSC look like a strong breeze would cause them to implode.

You are not wrong! I bought one of those TSC coops 2 years ago and now have expanded on it twice with more roost space, real nest boxes and a real run. It was fine at first to get started, but the TSC part of the coop is the weakest part by far now.

that's funny! i found one like that once that my speckled sussex laid ...it did have a yolk...
