Yes, yes, farting should be illegal. Coughing or sneezing should be illegal, your germs or viruses could kill me, and I have to breathe those in! Picking your nose should be illegal, for previous reason AND it has long term affects on my sanity, really, I could go permanently bonkers. Talking in an overly loud voice should be illegal.. it gives me a headache, and it causes stress.. and we know stress is one of the main causes of heart attacks! Alot of people have heart attacks.. they run in my family, so it should be illegal for anyone to do anything that stresses me.. I could die. Really. Ditto on the colone and perfume.. I could choke to death on that stuff sometimes. It should be illegal for children to scream indoors too, I could permanently loose my hearing. Children running indoors? I could trip, and die. Vehicles and big trucks with their pollution? I got more harm from that walking home down our quarry road as a kid then I ever did from second-hand smoke.

The world is full of deadly stuff. If you don't want to die, don't go out in it. I don't. Truly. I'll be one of those people who dies in their bathroom (cause everybody dies in their bathroom).

I must say, I quite despise cigarettes, myself. I come from an every-last-person smokes family, and I don't like the stuff. However, that's no reason to pull out the make-people-feel-horrible-about-themselves guns. When I do venture outside... and I'm often with someone who smokes.. the part where they have to go outside in the middle of our conversation for their cigarette doesen't bother me... but what does bother me is when I, and others, are left sitting at the table for 20 minutes because the poor smoker had to hike all the way to china and through forests just to light up for a minute. Do I blame the smoker? Not a bit! I blame the establishment that doesen't have a private smokers exit to a little smokers patio.

Illegal to smoke anywhere outdoors, you say? People can own the land, sure. But no one owns the air. Air is transient. I might have just breathed in what you breathed in five minutes ago. Are you going to sue me for stealing your air? Who did you buy it from? Wheres your reciept?

Most new laws are hillariously retarded...as are most new lawmakers

Bans are stupid in general if ya ask me. If someone is such a dang jerk that they can't blow their stogie smoke AWAY from other non smokers...I think it should be perfectly legal to just stomp the turds out of em and be done.

Simple fix, and doesn't ruin it for everyone else. I'm aggressive toward idiots...it's my nature.

I think the issue comes from smokers who really just don't care what others feel about their habit (remember I am a smoker). I think that if ALL smokers were more respectful of other people, this would not even be a conversation. I personally have no problem with the bans in restaurants and bars. No waiter or waitress should have to be poisoned because of my habit.

We have a local club here that has a sectioned off outdoor area for smokers with heaters and tables and all. That would be nice everywhere.

It does go both ways though. The number of times I have been
In one of the designated smoking areas at disney when you get non
Smokers walking through waving their hands in front of their noses,
I have eve seen them telling them to stop smoking because
The don't like it well don't go in a smoking area then.

I heard yesterday that lung cancer affects more people than breast, colon and leukeamia put together. Sadly it is also much harder to treat. As an ex-smoker, I believe it is right to ban smoking in public places to prevent others from suffering the effects of passive smoking, especially children.

On the contrary it's a health issue and the rights of the few should not override the rights of the many. Many suffer because a few people want to smoke

.Agreed, but that is the way this country has become. Every oddball group, with some behavior outside of what's considered normal, gets to demand that everyone play the game by their rules.

Good grief, nowadays, 50 parking spots, at Walmart, are offlimits to anyone without a blue tag, and most of the time, they are empty.

I am a smoker. I outside my home, in my car when alone, and outside in any public place, usually at my car. I am, and always have been a courteous smoker. Truthfully, I despise the habit itself.

Are the bans working? Are fewer people getting cancer? These are questions I would like to see answered.

I am not a drinker. I strongly feel that public drinking should be banned. Not only because I do not want to be in a restaurant with my children and have them witness the behaviour of a person in an inebriated state, but also because drinking and driving is a serious problem in our country with MEASURABLE deaths as a result. Second hand alcohol's effects are much more immediate to your health and well-being than second hand smoking. Why is nothing being done about that?

I am a smoker. It's my choice. I've always been a courteous smoker including taking my butts with me.

Non-smokers have rights...so do I...these are my choices:

Since the smoking bans in restaurants or any other place, I no longer frequent them. It's my choice not to spend my money there.

I smoke in my car, which I worked & paid for & pay for insurance....if you don't like smoking in vehicles, ride with someone else!

I smoke at home. If you're a non-smoker & visit me...if you don't like it, you can leave! It's my home which I worked & paid for.

If you see me smoking outdoors, 100 yards away from the nearest human being...do not walk all the way over there to warn me of the evils of smoke...and please do not send your child...you will get

for it!

I follow all of the silly government rules...but do not invade MY personal spaces with YOUR choices!

We're in Arizona so we also have had no smoking laws for a long time! First it was just some cities, now it's state wide. We went on a trip to Las Vegas for a work conference and I didn't even think about it except to get a non smoking room. Other than that, people smoke EVERYWHERE in Las Vegas (which is pretty obvious if we would have just thought about it), you can't get away from it. I've heard Circus Circus is smoke free but haven't been there. Anyway, I have asthma, and I spent the majority of my time doing breathing treatments, and still thought I was going to end up in the ER. Lesson learned!
On a side note - I do really feel sorry for all of the businesses that had to go through the smoking ban - it was really difficult on them. After saying that, none of them that I know of in my area went under anytime around that, so I guess it didn't damage their business as bad as my hubby and I were thinking it might.
Oh the other hand, it's really nice to be able to go anywhere and not have smoke making me have asthma. There were a lot of places I just didn't go to.

Due to poor or no forest management on public land (USFS) we here in the West get to breathe smoke filled air every summer as our forests burn up. The sun is red at midday and warnings are on the news about staying indoors( as if that helps). I also have an aunt that is very anti-smoking but she will sit in the smoke of a campfire for hours telling my wife how bad smoking is, cracks me up.
