I agree...our society has too heavily relied on govt and it WILL kill our nation...a private business should have the power to decide who they want in there, period.

As for controlling people's own cars and homes..um..no..

And just a reminder people..we are a republic..not a democracy..I know the media loves to indoctrinate people with that...

.Agreed, but that is the way this country has become. Every oddball group, with some behavior outside of what's considered normal, gets to demand that everyone play the game by their rules.

Good grief, nowadays, 50 parking spots, at Walmart, are offlimits to anyone without a blue tag, and most of the time, they are empty.

Right now in Tucson, the stupid council members want to force EVERY BUSINESS to install BIKE PARKING spots.and at a crazy number like 10 to 1...total insanity. This will close businesses becuase they won't have the room to abide by this law, even if there aren't enough bike riders...agenda 21 people...look it up.

I like bike parking spots. Here they put in a 3 or 4 inch post on the side of the business or between street trees etc so you can lock your bike up there. It also save bikes being locked to trees or in places they block safe access to a shop

You wanna hear something strange? When we had the big fires here in San Diego, it hardly bothered my asthma at all (though it did bother my eyes). I even went out biking in all that smoke. But, cigarette smoke just about kills me. Go figure.

I burn frequently in my business stumps and brush and it is not as irritating to me but, I do know a little about smoke management and how many tons of carbon is released in the air from a forest fire and it is alot more than second hand smoke I assure you. I think that long term exposure of ANY smoke is not good.

When my employer went smoke free on all campuses - quit programs WERE covered under insurance. Plus our state has a free program of some sort, I don't know much (anything) on it besides the ads on TV.

Really scary part is that those people are breeding.

Cigarettes are ridiculously expensive. You would recoup whatever you spend to quit in no time. That argument doesn't make sense.

I have to disagree with this point. For some people it may be less expensive, but for us, Chantix alone is $670 a month and the smokes are $200. Yeah yeah yeah don;t get going on the health care costs added in PWEASE!

EVerything we eat, drink and breathe causes health problems. If anyone is to be believed that is.

Oh, and the patch made us both sicker than dogs within an hour. Weird. I have a co-worker on them and she did just fine.

That argument doesn't fly. I'm sure there are health plans and other things to help quit. Also I've heard this before too. As far as I'm concerned as i sit here trying to get a decent breath, "what a person eats , drinks, breathes shouldn't cause someone else health problems. When I eat. Whatever I eat only makes me fat. But when a person smokes, they can make everyone else sick. That includes small children and even the unborn if a pregnant mother smokes. That to me is NOT fair. I also don't believe that is a smokers intention.

Smokers take it personal but we who LOVE them and NEED them really WANT them to be around longer and to take all measures to see that that's the case. Smoking causes more illnesses than cancer.

I miss my mother, brother, sister in law, friend Mary and her mother and father. All gone to soon because of tobacco. I wonder if they miss me.

Ditto. A smoking ban is a violation of property rights. The business owners should have the right to decide, not the legislature.

On the contrary it's a health issue and the rights of the few should not override the rights of the many. Many suffer because a few people want to smoke. Like me and children who are forced to grow up with parents and others who jepordize their health for the rest of their lives by partaking in an unhealthy lifestyle. What kind of person inflicts on others sickness and disease for their own personal pleasure? The research has been done and still folks want to argue against it. Why should the innocent suffer?

Because it's their GOD GIVEN right to ruin your lungs and their own if they so choose. Their rights are more important than your rights. It's in the Constitution. Right?

I say they should make specific places for smoking with exhaust systems that filter the crap out. Or better yet just move it around inside the building. That way they can get 2nd, 3rd, 4th and fifth hand smoke. Cars would be fine as long as the windows were rolled up. I love to see those cars that have a film of tar all over the inside. It's too bad that kids are usually too stupid to see more than a few days into their future. Not too many people start smoking when they are old enough to know better. I had a friend that started when he was 17. I thought that was really stupid, but it made him look cool.

I do feel sorry for people that are addicted to the nasty things. With all the tax they have to pay on the things I would think it would be cheaper to find some way to quit. I couldn't quit eating. So I had my stomach removed. I don't think they have anything that effective for smoking though.

All that being said I tend to agree that businesses should be allowed to choose. If they like the stink then they should be allowed to make their business a smoking establishment. Have a ventilation system that creates a vacuum so smoke doesn't go out when people open the doors. Post signs that clearly warn people they are entering a toxic atmosphere and make it illegal for anyone under 18 to enter. It's ridiculous to have a smoking ban and have employees standing at the front doors creating a concentrated toxic barrier for people to walk through.
