Winter update from sn0w.....

I never thought 14 degrees would feel so nice. Even the chickens are a little less scolding when I come out.

The "rooster" is the best laying chicken in the bunch. Not only has she not missed a day since she started, her egg is waiting for me every morning. Sunny lays about 3 days on, 1 day off, and hers is a few hours later each day. Benedict has given us just two eggs, and she makes a HUGE deal out of it every time. For her second egg she completely threw all of the straw out of BOTH nest boxes and laid on bare wood. Silly chicken.

In other news my ADOR1 really didn't work at all for the last week, I had to press and hold the button all the way up and down morning and night. So yesterday I put a new battery in and it took off faster right away. But then it didn't close last night.

So I touched the frame along the wall to feel if it shifted some how and I ripped the frame from the wall. It opened on its own this morning.

?!?!?!?!

I know, right? If I have to open it myself every morning and night, I should have just done the manual door and saved myself $200. Ugh.

Well, I just kind of put my hand on it to see if I could feel binding or twisting and the screw that holds it to the wall popped off. However, the darned thing worked both this morning and tonight.

My Wyandotte is a super trooper layer too. Her first winter she was phenomenal.....all winter long. This winter she's chillin' LOL. Nada. But that's okay. Her character is so hilarious. High hen....Just a fun bird altogether.

Ahhhh, I see..... that tells you the frame was binding because of where it was screwed to the wall being 'unflat'.

That makes sense. It didn't open again this morning though. I'm really beginning to hate that thing.

I'll bet! I would be too....I wish I could get my hands on one of them, just to see what the problem is (I love to figure out stuff like that!), can't afford it tho.

I'm tempted to pack it up and ship it to you. I wanted it because I felt like it would keep a little of their body heat inside the coop house for them... but it probably doesn't even matter.

Tonight I was too disgusted to even go out and look to see if it closed.
