sn0wwhite's Wichita Coop for the Twin Cities

Oh you are probably right there. The wire is barely tacked in place by my crappy staple gun, so I should be able to move and notch it as needed. I'm not the best at notching, this is my first attempt yesterday:

I'm hoping that bigger hole won't come back to haunt me.
It will, you need to cover it in some way. Aside from that you are doing great. I'm really enjoying following your build.

Ha! No kidding! Those 7 dwarfs should have this thing done by now!

So, how do I fix that gap where I notched too big? Unscrew the wood, slide the wire over and redo? Probably that would look the best.

I think I do know, stormrider1.... I zoomed in on the sketchup of the plans AND since it was too muddy to work tonight, I went out and bought some clamps instead. I also learned that Menards sells varying sizes of glass so when I finally get to the window part, I'm going to give glass a try.

You can use some hardware cloth or something to cover that gap. It just needs to be secure.

Oh, and you can use a hammer and nails. Put a nail into the wood and then bend the nail over to hold the wire in place on the wood. You would have to use some wire to attack it to the wire you already have in place.

Yeah, I think I better close that gap. I'm addition to mice probably moving in, it will make me crazy.

The chickens will eat the mice. It's the rats that might be a problem. And I wouldn't be surprised if a cat or raccoon squeezed through that gap.

Wow, a cat or raccoons in a 1x2 inch gap? I need to get this coop finished fast. I am on borrowed time with my current set up then. Thankfully I've never seen a rat around here, but I think we do have weasels.

It looks like a 3-inch by 2-inch gap to me. But maybe I am wrong.

It's half inch hardware cloth so I think each square is a half inch, right? I didn't actually measure it though.
