Weasels? You would be much better off with rats. Weasels seem to kill for the thrill, not just to eat AND they fit through very small holes. Aside from weasels the problem with gaps is that chickens are just about like vampires, only their problem is night not day. They will sleep next to fencing and don't move, allowing a coon to reach through the gap and grab the chicken piece by piece.That said, if your run is secure you can allow your chickens to free run between the coop and run, eliminating the need to put them to bed at night and let them out in the morning. Its also healthier for them in the winter.

I've never seen any weasels too close, but I did see a pair run across a road about 2 years ago about 1/2 a mile from my house. So, they are around. So, I will fix that gap so that I can sleep well at night.

Made a little more progress tonight, started the rafters and fixed the small wire gap. But I did find that wire was in the way, but it accommodated us nicely by simply falling out of the way.

Currently my daughter is in painting and a family friend is helping me pretty much every day. (I feel very fortunate to have his help!) my husband lent a hand tonight, but he's also working in refinishing our deck.
