Snakes

I almost did! My nest boxes are at eye height and around a corner, so I was eye to eye with the snake when I first saw it. I did yell, and he dropped the egg and went behind the box. I had to go in the house to get the phone to call someone to help and when I came back out I took his picture. My friends son came over and caught him and took him to the back of their property, far away...
We had a red belly black snake in our coop, it killed a pullet so we rang someone to come and get rid of it, $200 dollars that cost the very next day there was another one

Ouch. We have had carpets but @ least we can remove those ourselves. The red bellies, browns & tigers we don't usually see & the small eyed snakes don't target the chooks.

Oh, we have had hundreds of red belly black snakes but only one brown touch wood. My dad ran over it in the mower, it was a baby

In E. Texas we have chicken snakes but I have only had to deal with 3 in 3 years. I always check my nest boxes before I put my hand in.This is a picture of one woven inView attachment 1647936 the chicken wire inside my coop!

Oh my life!!! As soon as I saw the pic my stomach did flip flops!!!
