One of my buff orpingtons (female) has decided it’s super fun to peck my back when I sit with them. If I put my back against the fence she will climb all over me and be friendly (although she isn’t my friendliest) but if I don‘t she will peck at my back until I get up. It doesn’t hurt and she doesn’t seem to be being mean, it’s just weird. Any thoughts? Mean behavior or just a weird chicken?

My chickens have decided my clothes are better treats than mealworms, so chickens are just weird. They peck at each other to preen their friends, so maybe that’s what they are doing?
My chickens hate mealworms. They only like earthworms, strawberries, lettuce and hard boiled egg yolk 🤷‍♀️. And apparently Snuggles likes clothes.

Lots but she pecks at my clothes. She can’t see my back freckles. Today when I was sitting with my back against the fence she was trying to figure out a way to get to my back. Weirdo 🤷‍♀️

She's probably figured out that poking you in the back gets your attention, and she likes the attention.

I have a hen that does it out of "jealousy" - if your back is turned and you're interacting with another bird, she'll poke you.
