Without scaring me too much….why does my chick have a snot bubble!? 😢

2.5 week old Ameraucana. I haven’t seen more since I took this picture. No sneezing, wheezing or coughing. Acting pretty normal except maybe a little more “easy going” today. She’s normally the super fiesty one. I did see her sleeping with her mouth open a few times but it’s not all of the time. Poop is normal and she’s eating and drinking.

How is your chick doing?

Has the mucous resolved? It's hard to know what's causing it if she has no other symptoms. Possibly dust from bedding or feed, not enough ventilation. Respiratory illness can also cause mucous from the nostrils, but generally you would see/hear more symptoms.

Thank you so much for your reply! I got a few responses from another group who thought it was probably just water from going too far in. 🙈 everything has been absolutely perfect since that “snot bubble”. I studied chickens for 5 years before getting any but apparently I was not prepared for how much I would worry about them!

Could have been water:)
Glad everything is going well!
First time jitters is all, there's always going to be some worry, but as time goes by it's a little easier. You're doing just fine🤗
