Snow in Texas!!

Good luck. I'm sure they will understand since everyones pipes are freezing.

They said they did...so it we well...
Now I have no water at all...hoping to fix enough pipes tomorrow to get enough water put up for everyone.

I have been lucky with the pipes so far. Had them insulated during construction. Where I have exposed pipe & faucets in the yard I just put a black trash bag over them.

The chicken water supply is frozen, but I can haul hot water out to them if I do not slip and fall .

I also took some precautions if the pipes froze. I stocked up on water (filter myself and store in glass bottles). And I stocked up on rubbing alcohol to bathe my stinky bits if things got bad.

I am slowly replacing the old 30-40 year old pipes ...not enough money to replace all at once. But when this happens it is a pain...Plus the crawl space under the house is only 10-11 inches. So you have to dig out dirt and make a trench to get to almost any pipe. But it is a place where I can have my animals and it is paid for....taxes under $300 a year...so I will take fixing things and fixing them right as I have the money or as they wear out. I worry more about the animals than us....

How sad. Mine didn't use the roost when the brutal temps hit, they piled up on the floor like chicks. I have a silky in with my layers and she squirmed up between/under them. She's the warmest one out there.

Smart girl.
My wee silkies are a bit dim I think. I have to tuck them in every night to make sure they are warm. They were in a rabbit hutch inside the main coop but refused to go up the ramp at night. So got a cat box and turned it into a cozy nest box for them. Checked on them and they were trying to cuddle at the entrance. I just scooped them up and placed them in the next box shined the light until they were settled and closed their pen.
As I was leaving I could hear their coo purring. They may just make it to spring:P

got stuff...going to fix them now....

Running water is great. My sister drives an 18wheeler and since I couldn't find the parts anywhere around here so she stopped in S. Cal and bought me the parts I needed and dropped them off for me Wed afternoon. Hot showers are GREAT!

stupid tankless hot water heater has a leak...so no hot water...I feel like I should have water on the stove boiling to wash clothes and charging .05 for a bath and .25 for a hot towel. Wipeys are a wonderful thing...lol We are going to use a colandor(msp) like a make-shift shower head. one of us will stand in the shower while the other pours the nice hot water thru the colandor(msp)...thank goodness we can stomach seeing each otehr in the buff.

Thank goodness I have lots of camping gear. I have a Zodi camp shower so we could take hot showers, but they had to be fast. I also used it for dishes.

I think all the pipes are fixed. going to let the pipes set overnight...turn water on first thing tomorrow and hope ofr no leaks...everyone keep your fingers crossed...
