Snow in Texas!!

hope you get water back soon! I am so thankful that we haven't lost water yet! we had some rolling blackouts that weren't bad accept my husband does computer tech support from home, so when the lights went out he couldn't work. The girls are so funny about the snow! about 3 of them and the ducks came right out and started eating it and walking around. The ducks LOVE it they are running around having fun. The rest like yalls just stoop there in the door of the coop staring like "what is that!?" too funny

I am melting snow and ice on the stove. It may not be super clean, but at least they will have water...not clean enough for my hot tea, coffee, or mocha....I know this is what my great-grandparents did years ago so I can to. They will be ok..more worried about all my animals than us...just like everyone else on here. lol

Went out again to give them more water. Eveyone is bummed out. So, I opened up the pop door & my bad arse roo said come on lets go the girls peaked out & said hellllllll no. Mr roo was slipping & sliding trying to get back in. I think its almost over. I can honestly say I'm not pe

rpared for cold weather & either are my chickens.

Our girls were so happy they could go out in the run yesterday they started laying eggs at 21 wks old. Found them this morning, 1 was so cold I think it was laid yesterday, but 1 of my Barred Rocks was laying on 1 this morning... I went out and bought a galvanized waterer Friday and put the lizard heated on the bottom of it to keep the water warm. It's still working, water is staying liquid. We are suppose to get cold temps tonight possible freezing rain, but the girls are out playing til it is time to go in for the night.

@ 8ROYALS; I hope you get your pipes fixed and everything gets back on track for all of us Texans.

It was 60 here yesterday. Absolutely crazy. 24 one day 60 the next. No wonder every one here is gettng sick. We had the water running, dishwasher and washing machine going through the nights but I never thought about having the toilets run. Guess what froze? So many pipes have broken here that the kids have been out of school all week and will not go back until Wed and NO plumbing supplies available. I've called stores over 60 miles away and everyone is out. Fortunately we have a waterfaucet in the pumphouse so we could tun the water off to the house and still have water available.

Thank you...I found more leaks....oh my goodness...So water is off...heading to get parts tomorrow and hopefully water back on tomorrow....thanks again

Good luck. There are almost no pvc/cpvc parts and no glue from El Paso to Tucson. We've been out of water since Friday and can't find the parts to fix the pipes. Or I should say we haven't had water in the house. The barn and garage have water so we've been having to carry water into the house.

I got three leaks fixed...I have two more. I will have to get more pipe and fix stuff on Wed. I turn on the water fill everything up and turn it back off. this is a great pain, but we do what we do.
