What is it with people? Are they lazy, stupid or just so inconsiderate that they can't take the time to brush or broom the snow off the tops of their vehicles? Cripe, some of them are so lazy that they just make a little hole in the windshield to peep through--forget about cleaning the side and back windows. I know of at least one accident this winter where a gal swerved to miss a big chunk of snow coming off the car ahead and went head-on into an oncoming car. Luckily all survived. Another friend had the windshield of her car smashed when a hunk of frozen sleet blew off a van in front of her on the Interstate. In both cases the driver who caused the problem was unaware of it and drove on--no problem for them. Now in NYS it isn't against the law to drive a moving pile of snow--NJ and CT will fine you--but it seems to me that it should just be common sense or courtesy to clean off one's car before driving it. If you're to short to reach the top, carry a step-stool or get a smaller car. I have a feeling that the next couple of days are going to be bad too because the prediction is for sleet and freezing rain meaning it is going to require work to clean off cars and most idiots won't bother to do it.
