Snowed Inn - Breakfast by woodstove

Sounds yummy. Feels cozy.

Absolutely agree. If worse comes to worse, I'd sooner have a pit dug in my backyard with a grate and woodfire. There is a huge difference in the taste. I always swore if DH I built our home from scratch I would order my stove and it would be an antique wood stove .

I agree I made an oxtail stew that was to die for last winter. Oxtails are not easy to find though so I havn't made another one

Yes, it is. I think they called this one a "Baby Bear".

Ladyhawk, if I were able to design the kitchen I want it would cost me mega bucks. LOL I would build the house around the kitchen - it's the room I love best.

I made chili and spaghetti. It tastes awesome! We had cornbread with corn kernels baked in, jalapeno's, cheddar and sour cream for toppings with the chili. I am afraid we all ate like starving little pigs. The spaghetti I had made parmesian bread loaves yesterday so I sliced it and toasted it with garlic and butter for the Italian diners at the table.

Priss I used to work for a company (many years ago) that cut and bent all the outer steel panels for the fisher stove company in schoolcraft michigan. The company I worked for went out of business way back then and I haven't seen one of those stoves in many years but at the time they were one of the best built stoves on the market. Unmistakeable design that I will never forget. We actually got all the parts for one and welded it up ourselves for use in the barn. Had that one for years till I moved and couldn't take it along.

lighthawk, this thing can pump out some heat! It will run you out of the house when it is chugging along. LOL

Would it be necessary to have one stove for each room?

I love woodfire cooking, open pit or not, they are great to have during the winter days!

I Bet. I asked my insurance company and found out that if I install one my premium would skyrocket. Alas I will have to be content with the gas furnace. Were I to put one in on the sly it would void my policy were there ever a fire even if the stove didn't cause it. Sad because I have about 10 acres of old growth woods on the back of my property and just the deadfall would probably heat this place for an entire winter.
