Ok. Well, the video was just like the picture except his back going up and down quickly. No open mouth breathing, just some hissing like a person with the cold coming from his nose.@BaJa, one thing my vet's taught me was to look for certain things in sick animals and it has helped me immensely. One of those things was "watch for open mouth breathing". This is different than panting, and I have found there are a few types of open mouth breathing, one comes when they are about to die, one comes from respiratory disease, one from pain, one from a disease like ascites. It's been my experience that they all look slightly different, but the average person probably thinks they look the same and this is why I wanted to see the video of your duck.

When the back moves up and down like that, or when they look like they are breathing using their abdomen, it is not a good sign, and this sort of breathing problem is always an emergency. And as I said in my last post, the differences in breathing problems and what they mean are can be very subtle and hard to differentiate.Ok.
