So.... Do you think someone that does this has problems ?????

See this is exactly where I was and where I see the mutual friend heading quickly with this person. With me it was horses and chickens, and sewing , with the mutual friend it is goats, cows, soap and jewelry making. I think BPD is exactly what is going on here, that makes me feel better as I did second guess my decision and wonder if I was being too harsh. But I do way better without drama in my life too.

Was wondering if the person doing this also is the one friend type: Meaning does she seem to be so absorbed with this one friend that she can't seem to have other friends too? Seems like these folks tend to move on to a new person when the friend realizes whats up like you did.

When I met her, she had a supposed BFF, which she seemed to not spend as much time with after we started hanging out.... So I guess not totally absorbed, but pretty much.

Absolutely how my friend is. I was her person. She still tries to make it that way, but I am much better at shaking her off. One thing I have found is that if I have other friends around me - we go to a lot of the same events - who she is not comfortable with (most) she will not stick around long. I use the buddy system whenever possible.
She had a new person for a while but they seem to have caught on. (My Attacher emailed me the other day to see if we could get together and record some songs and do a few duo gigs -no! - because her most recent person will not answer the phone anymore. I told her my phone is not working all summer so she is forced to email.)

I've had mild experience with this copy-cat personality. I trained and worked horses for clients at a large boarding/training barn. At the barn there was another trainer there that had no goals of their own and would in fact "steal" things I was doing. This trainer went so far as to get the rides that I got, even on horses that were now officially retired. There was a bunch of other things this trainer would do that would mimic exactly what I would do, it always left other people scratching their heads. There must be a good number of these people out there.
