I agree! Everyone has the right to feeling lonely and depressed and it has nothing to do with seeing what you have or don't have that is good. I hope I didn't come across as making you feel that you have it so good that you shouldn't feel that way....I was only trying to show that your friend, though blunt, may have been trying to fix your situation by accentuating the positives in your life. I don't think he was really trying to make you feel bad for feeling that way...he could have put it a little better, I guess.
Guys aren't real good at emotional support and I must admit, neither am I after being this mom/dad thingy for so long. My first inclination is to fix it, instead of just acknowledging that it is real and isn't wrong to feel that way just because you have many good things in your life.
