Becoming a vegetarian or going on a beef-and-pork only diet because you love your birds too much?

No , I just don't name my meat birds . I'ts easier because they all look the same anyway .

All 25 of my chickens have names and I would have no trouble eating any of them.

Naming them was very easy and it is not hard to know which chicken is named what either.

They come when called too.

They are all named, "Chick Chick".

I just hallar, "come here chick chick" and they all come running.

And when it comes time to eat them they will all be named, "DIN DIN"!

"COME HERE DIN DIN"!

I really want to start just eating the meat I hunt or raise. Too many problems arising in the store bought stuff lately. I need more land.

I agree with you crazy4chicsinBC. I think I could eat them, if they were intended that way from the start. I used to hunt and my grandmother raised ducks, sheep and steer. All of which I helped butcher and eat.
When ever my DH goes hunting with his friends, and he brings home a turkey., I try to get him to keep it for eating. I've even helped clean it. It always magically disappears. I think, that as long as we eat meat, we should at least eat what we hunted. At least that animal had a decent life (especially the turkeys around here) compared to the poultry you buy at stores.
I at least got him to cook and eat the trout we caught recently.

chicken has always made me uncomfortable anyway because it's so obvious i'm eating a dead body *shivers* - just the gross factor there freaked me out you know?
but since i've had chickens i haven't had a bite - can't eat my friends!
