It's hard to tell from year to year, 3 years ago in my area, easter eggers were in high demand, this year and last year, no one cares.Yes I guess I should have made sure I could sell them first![]()
That's a great price but doesn't put much $$ in your pocket. You will barely break even as they exponentially start going through feed. I count on 10# feed for each pullet to get to 10 weeks. At $20/50#, that's $4 just in feed. I follow a similar plan but my market is Denver where we have many no rooster neighborhoods so offering guaranteed pullets is an advantage. I've sold close to 500 over the years.Not sure yet was thinking 10-15 a bird?
If it makes you feel any better, I've got 2 cockerels in the yard that are going to have to go into the pot soon. And I've got 7 babies in the brooder. And uh...19 fertile eggs in the incubator... And 24 more eggs coming in a month. This is very much not good.That’s what I’m scared of lol
