Debi I told you to run while Ken was out driving around looking for its home...well there's nothing for it now.

My little 10lb ChiChi, Blue, loves the chickens. He was constantly trying to stuff his teddy bear into the brooder with them...to share with the babies. He watches them like a 200lb Great Pyr would.

Cute but... I wouldn't get too attached just yet.It does look like purebreed.I would check local lost and found ad's and place a found ad yourself. If you place a found ad dont give any color description etc.If someone lost the dog they can tell you what color etc.I got a dog back to his owner once by placing a found ad.I got my parrot back 2 years ago due to a good person that got him about 3 miles from Us.TG!.It is cute though.Maybe someone did just abandon it people do weird stuff sometime's.Good Luck.Update us.

There are lots of chihauhua being abandoned in CA right now. Our humane society has been receiving them from there pretty regularly for the past year or so, I'm sure they are not alone in it either. I had no idea that they shipped dogs around to where certain breeds are less common to up their chances of adoption, right now it seems to be a lot of chihuahuas from CA. They were the trendy dog out there for awhile, a lot of times with people who weren't prepared for the work and commitment that any dog takes, even pocket dogs. So, even though it's purebred I would not be surprised at all that it was abandoned.

That said, Debi that dog is crazy adorable! I usually don't care for chihuahuas, but that one is really cute. I hope it works out for you.

Chihauhuas are great dogs. The only thing wrong with them is the fact that they have been over breed because of there ease of breeding, low food consumption an the money the puppies were bringing. Now there market value is almost nothing. Because they are more chihauhuas than people wanting chihauhuas you are now seeing them stuck in rescue or worse. An many of the people breeding them are dumping theirs.

I expect Yorkshire Terriers are not far behind.

Debie!!!

I wondered what had happened to you. Last time we spoke, both Ken's were having health issues. I see you still have your Ken. Me too. I had 70+ chickens,
then I had a stroke in 12/2009 and I gave away all of my birds but 8. The stroke left me unable to water and feed them. Well, I can rake again so I am building
up again. I am up to 19 birds and have coupes to repair, slow but sure. I do have a showgirl roo now. Hope you are well. Update me on what you have been up to,
its been about a year now. All my birds are shown on Photobucket.com under Lakota_Ranch.

Can't wait to hear from you.

Sincerely,
Suzzie

We took her to animals control to be scanned for a chip - Nada. Ken posted a note there that said "Small black dog found - call to identify". After two weeks she is legally ours. We have done the minimum, but we did do SOMETHING.

Angie until this little thing adopted us, I HATED chihuahuas!!!! This little thing doesn't shake, doesn't bark, except for at the cat when they are playing and is just so loveable and playful. She is about 12 weeks old at the most, the vet at the shelter told us today.

I suspect you are right. This breed is a high energy breed and alot of people think they are just pocket dogs to show off. They need outside time, play time, a play mate and attention. No problem for us!!!
