So I really shouldn't kiss my chickens???

I kiss and hug on my chickens

I just love them to death and can't resist.

You guys are making me laugh about the undercurrent topic going on here -- about those who don't wash their hands after using the facilities. Laughing, because I'm 100% with ya.

I had a friend once who took it a step farther and was disgusted by the knob on the paper towel dispenser. I think because some people will rinse their hands and not use soap, then get paper towel and the paper towel knob stays moist (perfect environment for germ multipilication). So my friend would get paper towel first and then wash her hands. Now I do that, (always making sure I'm using a clean hand or scrap of towel from the previous user). Thankfully lots of places now have auto paper towel dispensers, so I don't have to do that anymore.

I think men are the worst offenders. I always wash my hands after shanking a man's hand.

don't forget to use your paper towel to open the door on the way out too. i'm guilty of leaving used paper towels on the floor in facilities that don't keep a garbage by the door or within tossing distance.

Bunch of germaphobes.

You can get salmonella from most anything. Even fish tanks. The odds are so darn low though. Maybe one in a million. I've started fish tank syphons with my mouth and so do lots of other people and we are still alive. I also go camping alot and guess what? There are no sinks or soap at the campgrounds. You use the hole in the ground and go on your way. Later that evening you eat hot dogs and smores by hand. You aren't gonna get salmonella from handling your chickens unless you don't keep your chicken pens clean or have a really low immune system. We are constantly in contact with germs but we aren't constantly sick. We do have an immune system for a reason. Honestly for all the stuff I do outdoors and in what some would consider very unsanitary conditions I get sick maybe once every 5years. I don't even catch colds or flus. They say all the use of antibacterial soap and such may actually lessen our immune systems and create resistent super bacteria. Maybe there's some truth to that because the last people to get sick are often the ones who don't have a bottle of dial in their purse.
