So... I want to make a Crock Pot Incubator...

Little penguin chick :love
The mom has mottle coloration, which explains the penguin pattern I think.

She has a little pimple like protrusion on the head, I hope it’s nothing serious.

To keep her comfortable and quiet, I made her a little box inside the crockpot, and put the towel over her to mimic the conditions of being under the broody. I think it really helps that my first experience with hatching was a broody hatch... I learned a lot just by watching the behavior of mommy and her chicks :)

I had the privilege of watching the second one zip and hatch :love

It’s now resting in the second little box in the crock pot. I turned down the thermostat to 37C.

I’ll make a temporary brooder from the crock pot until I figure out exactly how I want the brooder set up to look like.

I wasn’t expecting just two to hatch initially, so the cage I had prepared is a little large :/

The inside of the second egg is a lot wetter than the first, I think it’s due to the larger pip hole and high humidity...?
