No AC - that is really bad. I am sorry. While not much for AC myself, I have had it on during these Amazon-like days - concerned about my ailing kitty and truth be known, I am feeling the humidity like I never did before. For those not here in NJ, it's been so insanely hot and HUMID an alarming amount of the time - there were even 90+ degree days in NJ in April, about 30 degrees above normal. Let me clarify what I mean by humid in NJ right now: air = water here!!!!

......And I know it's been way worse in places like Florida. Scary what we're doing to ourselves and all the beings we subject to our foolishness. Sat in front of the computer for 12 hours today so far trying to face wretched interrogatories when the only sane place to be was in water somewhere! The news said that this June is the hottest on record in these parts.

NJ Humidity = Sweating in a cold shower!! Oh how I don't miss those days! We didn't have central AC as kids. My folks had a window unit in their room and we kids (5) had 1 in my older sisters room. We would grab all the matteresses and lay them on the floor of her room. Us 2 little ones would wake up when the older ones came to bed and here of all their wild exploits, lol. Yeah life in a small town, lol.

I'm hanging in. I breath in. I breath out. I think I need to stay away from the boards cuz I was about to go off on someone earlier, lol

Hope you're hanging in there. Today the humidity will start dropping (finally!) and then we'll be pretty good till the weekend when another extended heat wave is set to start

. I hope your AC is working by then

We finally got our AC back on yesterday afternoon, that was the hottest uckiest* day. We started to cheer when the indoor temp got to 85!

My gardens are suffering though.

Yes, JJ - looking forward to the little break that we're supposed to get. Then I'll run out and set up the hoses for my poor plants. The chickens are handling the heat pretty well, our backyard is very shaded with all kinds of shrubs and small trees for them to go under. I can't believe all the chicken holes that are back there!

Today I go for bloodwork and most likely the "shots" for the next few days. Then I get a break til the 14th of July. (5th treatment) I'm really looking forward to this fall when I don't have to think about Drs or chemo. Oh wait, I still have to do radiation. But that should be a piece of cake.

I can't wait for my hair to grow back! I find myself NOT looking in the mirror and avoiding my reflection as much as possible. It works for me.

*new word!

Glad you get a bit of a time out before #5..
Your new word is short for a very apt description of the recent weather!

And you look good!!!!

Luna, I've been avoiding looking in the mirror as well. In my case every time I look in it I keep seeing some wrinkled old man looking back at me instead of the handsome virile young thing I wish I was. Got to try and find a better mirror.

It's only 46 this morning and the high is only going to the mid 70's, so maybe by tomorrow it will have moved to your part of the country.

Hey Ginny - Checking in on you. How goes it?

Been largely off line the past few days due to very ill kitty (RIP my sweet Teddy bear) but am thinking of you.

A bigger badder heat wave underway so I'm glad your AC got fixed. I was long scheduled to have a checkup on my old system June 26 but the company cancelled after confirming they'd be there

, so I'm crossing fingers that it doesn't give out now, with 110+ heat index for days on end. 102 today before humidity is accounted for so it'll probably be more like 115+. Scary hot. So much so that I finally went and bought a window AC for the birds. It was that or 1) bring them in the house (a production) or 2) get nothing done at work this week because of worry. Ellie struggles in the heat, BJ in the cold. The odd couple

Will see how it goes, because their old building will let much of the cool escape, and....it doesn't have enough electrical service for the proper size AC. If somehow it can at least keep temps not higher than the 80's they should be okay. Debating not even letting them in the run when I'm not home because if the heat gets to them they could get dopey and not bring themselves inside. Happened to kitty Samantha yesterday. I couldn't find her and thought no way would she be upstairs in the toaster oven that it is (could have been 120 up there). But there she was, out cold, and limp. I carried her down into the cool 90's! Shutting off access to the upstairs this week. Even the central air doesn't cool it up there.

So..I'm just rambling here. Guess I better get myself out there and clean out the bird bath, so there's fresh water for the wildlife today. Fill 2 bowls on the ground too - the squirrels have been grateful. I have one recovering from a bad injury. It was looking bad but he started to do better doing the few cooler days last week. Hope he can hang on during this several day furnace blast.

Have a good one, stay cool and check in when you can

And as to mirrors, I stay away from them!

JJ - your kitty died?! I'm so sorry!

And you took the time to check in on me.

The heat around here has been pretty bad. No rain, everything is turning brown. Now we're on a water watch, no unnecessary watering.....e.g. - no car washing or lawn watering. Thankfully we have a well, and I'm watering what I can from my rain barrels. But that's gonna run out soon.

And to top it all off - my eyebrows are going, one hair at a time.

Hi Luna ~

I haven't read all of your thread, but the title caught my eye...you see I am an oncology nurse. I am assuming the shots you get after chemo are Neupogen, to raise your WBC count? Anyway, I am sure you have already heard this, but I have had many patients whose hair has grown back totally different. Like they used to be brown and straight, and it grows back auburn and curly! So while I bet it isn't fun losing all those hairs, maybe you will have thick, lustrous perfect hair afterwards

I hope the remainder of your treatment goes smoothly for you, it sounds like you are doing all the right things. Oh and I just noticed I am logged in as MikasGirl (who is my daughter and obviously was on my laptop), this is ZepChick writing this post, sorry bout that! ~ Kim
