So we're going to try & make a formal dress *Latest Pics Post #101*

Are the rhinestones glued on or does it appear they are sewn onto the tape?
If not sewn, the heat from the iron may make them come off.

I would whip stitch the top edge of tape to the waistband. You may have to use several different needles if the "sticky" substance on the back of the tape sticks to your needle.

I'm with NanaKat, I would hand stitch it on, or call the store and get some one on one help.......especially since it's so hard to get more. And from personal experience driving all the way there might not get you more (or even the right trim).

Oh and as far as a zipper foot, I just use my regular foot. I am still learning, and I'm a self-taught seamstress, but it has worked for me.

It looks like it's coming along beautifully!

Without seeing the ribbon it sounds like the plasticy stuff is a glue of some type that is heat activated. clip a little piece 1/4 inch and try it on a piece of fabric scrap.

In regards to the zipper foot the only difference is the zipper foot is not as wide as the regular foot and you can get in real close to the zipper part to make sure attachment is correct. Hope your other one works good.

Choosing the waistline for the last time, the shoelace is just temporary to work with

Just keep pinning, pinning, just keep pinning...

Now I have it all back on the form inside out so I can work on the seam up the back of the skirt & the zipper etc... I'm turning into the home stretch.

Now.. the ribbon... I think the plasticky stuff allowed them to put on the rhinestones & glitz because they don't appear to be sewn on... so.. I will hand stitch it on.. or have DD take care of that part.

It took 2 days but I finally pinned the skirt semi-properly...
After 1 day I thought I had it, but she had no room to move, or sit down it was so tight... so had to redo it again, and again, and again. Pinning this long straight skirt is quite difficult so far... I finally got it sorta right then pinned in the zipper, and I still had it mostly right! But when it's right side out there's a 'bunch' at the end of the zipper so I gotta tweak that still.

She looks GREAT in it

and it fits like a glove!
Once I get the zipper & skirt sewn in/up I'll take new pics.

Just remember to clip where curves are. That will relax the fit a bit. Also you can trim off the excess to give a little more room where there is a BUNCH of fabric. I cannot wait to see your results. AND YES you are a seamstress!!!! Look at you go!
