So, what have your kids done with themselves for the past two weeks?

My dd went to Panama, FL with her friends for a week. My oldest son is off from college for the summer and has been working on restoring his old VW bus. He is a computer nerd and loves fixing up old antique vehicles as a hobby with dh. My younger son has just been mostly playing video games and working on his anime graphic art computer stuff since he got out for summer break.

Well, my kids have been taking care of me since the car accident on June 6. Still hard for me to get around. Mostly they've been getting wet in the backyard. A week before the accident I bought them a slip and slide. I paid $40 for it, and after only using it one time, it tore in half on them! I thought my younger daughter was going to burst into tears. I don't have the money for a new one, or the pool they keep begging me for. I feel for them, I really do. And it's been so terribly hot here. This is just a yucky summer.

CC Mom I wish you were closer so I could give you my old 12 ft ring intex pool.It is nothing special, but it still holds the water. I even have an old slip and slide and a 3 ring rectangle pool.Just don't have the heart to throw them out. A cheap option for a slip/slide is the 6mil plastic you can buy in the painters section.

I just set up the old 15 ft intex pool we got last summer.Still filling with water.Ugh that bill will be huge. The kids have been swinging, jumping(trampoline),listening to music,or watching tv.They are waiting for me to drive an hour and get 2 friends they have not seen since last summer. I got the fire pit ready.Yum, I can't wait for hotdogs, marshmallows, and smores! I might set up the tent for them too. Trying to get them to clean rooms and get rid of cloths they don't want, but that is falling on me.

With the friends here I expect them to play video games, swim, have cookouts, marshmallow or water gun fights, and playing freeze tag.Once in a while I will take them to the dollar store.Once a month we might go to a buffet restaurant. While they play I will tend to the yard, house, and the animals. Will relish each moment because I have not forgotten how I disliked the winter.Oh how those cold days DRAGGED.

My 17 year old has been looking for a job with no luck thus far.

She has also been helping around the house,re-reading some books, taking walks with her dog and seeing her boyfriend when he isnt working.

Thank you very much for your kind thoughts about the pool. I wish I had the money to buy one for them are driving me nuts, lol.

My older daughter is also re-reading a bunch of books. Especially the twilight series. I ordered her a new book from Amazon.com, it's in the twilight series, but it's not one of the main books. It's about another character, Bree Tanner. It's called "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner." My daughter already read it once, took only one afternoon to do it! So she is rereading it again. I also bought another book by the same author, called "The Host", but it is listed as being for adults, so I am reading it first to make sure there is nothing sexual in it, and not a lot of foul language. I read fast, but apparently not as fast as her and she is impatient. She keeps eyeing the book and she can't wait to read it. It's a thick book, but it would only take her about a day a half to read it. I wanted to buy her Kindle and then just download the books for her, it would be so much easier and there would be fewer books piling up in my house, lol. But those Kindle are really expensive and I just don't have that kind of money right now. When I do, I can her earn the books that she wants to read. She is an avid reader and likes to spend her summers reading. My other daughter on the other hand, is active and likes to tell me in a daily basis that she's bored out of her mind. I try to keep her busy with crafts, but she still gets bored. Since I homeschool I think that I will just throw more homework at them, lol.
