My hatch was a success with 82%... now I have 46 RIR eggs in for one of my daughter's teachers and two friends from the local area! I am giving each one 1/3 of the babies so I am hoping they each wind up with at least a dozen chicks... fingers are crossed! Out of the last two hatches I have had it seems that I wind up with about 30% males... that's a trend I would like to see continue lol! Anyone have any tips on "sexing" RIR peeps at hatch?

Well, I am still hatching like crazy. I have lakenvelders and blue rosecomb bantams hatching as I type, and more lakenvelders and silkies moving to the hatcher on Wednesday. Our ducks & geese have started to lay, so I have pekin, gray runner, gray call, snowy call & buff dewlap toulouse eggs in the incubator (hoping they are all fertile!!!) My sportsman is full

IF everything goes right, I should have peeps by the end of the week. These will be my "experimental" eggs again from my cochin roo & the cochins & brahma hens. Last time I candled, they looked good!

In the bator: 15 cuckoo marans, 7 salmon ameraucana crosses. Expecting from dipsy doodle: 6 silkie and 6 EEs, should be here weds. I'll move the first two to my still air for the hatch out and complete the silkies in the first one, unless I am tempted to find/buy more eggs! Ohhh the temptations...I really want some blue and splash orpingtons too. SHHHH don't tell DH!
